This New England doper is alive. I know of another who’s alive too, but with a new job, a new house under construction, a hunting trip, and some other stuff I’m sure he’s making up

Been traveling quite a lot lately, but I’m still here.
Between warm days & foot-plus snowstorms trying to stay healthy. Working obscene amounts of overtime with the Sword of Damocles (aka the Year of Layoffs) hanging over my head.
But usually I love winter, it’s summertime when I suffer.
I haven’t gone anywhere. I’ve been snowed in. If not for the Net, I’d go as mad with despair as Ethan Frome, though.
I wish we were snowed in (NH/VT bordah) --instead it’s just slush and ick. Warm days have made me think of spring and how it’s a good 3-4 messy months away
Well, I moved from Taxachusetts to Florida about 2 years ago. It’s been sunny and in the low/mid 70’s here lately. I’ll take a few days of hurricanes a year over the New England winters any time.
I’m pleased to inform you that property taxes in the People’s Republic are now among the lowest of any state in the nation. Throw in standard sales and surprisingly modest state income taxes, and you’ve got a tax burden that is relatively low for the country. MA now ranks 35th, at 9.4%, while FL is 45th at 8.8%. With all the Boomers retiring in your neck of the swamp, I’d brace myself for an increase due to the needed services for stingy non-working pensioners.
Waistin’ away again in Margaritaville…

Wow Loopy! Now if we could just do something about the cost of decent housing. With the prevalence of these 15 room/4car garage homes even little houses are pretty expensive.
This past weekend we went to the Peabody-Essex Museum in Salem (we bought a membership! It’s too damned expensive on a per-visit basis) and the Museum of Science in Boston.
I snook away from VT for a month to visit my gf in FL. I’m no dummy.
