Where is the outrage?!! (Ben Carson - Muslims unfit to be POTUS)

I know man, I’m likely to end up casting my vote for Hillary just because she’s competent. That, evidently, is the bar these days.

Among current GOP candidates I would consider Marco Rubio a relative beacon of light among a dark carousel of clowns.

The butthurt in this topic over the opinion of some politician who doesn’t stand a chance getting elected president is hilarious.

Muslims stoning women for alleged infidelity? “Meh”

Muslim refugees flooding western countries and attacking their citizens? “Meh”

Muslims flipping out and killing people over a cartoon? “Meh”

Politician doesn’t think a Muslim should be in control of the U.S.? “FUCKING OUTRAGE!!!”

LMAO

There’s nothing secret about this place, and you haven’t "ruined’ anything. You’re just an ignorant jerk, and the best place to engage you is in this forum where we can give you the comments you deserve. I have no doubt you’ll be banned soon enough. Sic semper jerkannis.

The left always seems to love being in an echo chamber. Attempt to voice a differing viewpoint and the butthurt outrage flows like Niagara Fucking Falls.

How tolerant…

He’s one of the vanity candidates. He really doesn’t count.

Always being wrong should not be a goal.

I think you’re missing the point.

It’s not that “(a) politician doesn’t think a Muslim should be in control of the U.S.? “FUCKING OUTRAGE”!!!”

Nope. It’s the lack of outrage by those who claim to be worthy of leading the USA and its people, including the brown and Muslim ones.

Practice for what?

Have to say I’m very disappointed in Carson. The lack of outrage is probably just because we all know a Muslim won’t be President anytime soon. Carson’s sentiment is one that a lot of Americans would agree with. 40% by Gallup’s last poll:

Carson should really know better too, being a Seventh Day Adventist. Adventists aren’t generally loved by evangelicals anymore than Mormons are.

We’ll see a woman, a Jew, a Mormon, a Latino, an Asian, and an Arab Christian President before we see a Muslim President. However, I would like to ask a question of EU folks here, since they have larger Muslim populations than we do:

When do you think we’ll see the first Muslim PM or President(where the position isn’t mostly ceremonial) in charge of a majority-Christian EU country like France, Britain, or Germany?

My elderly mother, who is a moderate Democrat (Hubert Humphrey supporter in the day), said she agrees with Carson on this point. When I asked her why, she said, “Because I just do, okay?”

I’d also add that anti-Islam sentiment is pretty widespread in Britain:

http://www.newswits.com/2015/07/05/majority-of-britons-see-muslims-as-a-threat-poll-acfeijh.html

Carson probably won’t be hurt too badly simply because Islamophobia is a pretty acceptable thing, so much so that I doubt even the major Democrats will be willing to condemn Carson’s statement too harshly. So far, only Keith Ellison, himself a Muslim, has condemned the comments. I suspect that Hillary Clinton is going to focus group this one first.

That is about as open an admission of trolling as I have seen.

This is a Warning to stop that behavior

(Your earlier post was clearly trolling, but I will not give out two Warnings for the same back-to-back offense.)

Critique conservatism as Islam is critiqued and you will be a welcome member of the self-righteous club.

As to the OP, I suspect that several things have kept it down, (so far).

The media is still dealing with Trump’s refusal to refute the Birther bullshit (that he promoted) and they have a problem dealing with similar issues if they occur too close together.

It happened on a Sunday when most news outlets are dealing with the actual statements emanating from the Sunday morning political shows more than the reactions to them. (Although, we now have the NYT, NBC, ABC, and AOL making a point of publicizing it, (CBS is stuck on the Emmys; maybe CNN does not watch other channels’ shows), so it could get bigger.)

His comment was not sufficiently direct to make a good sound bite, (although it is beginning to get more play).

This is a prime opportunity for a sane, responsible Republican candidate to use as his own Sister Souljah Moment.

But none are.

I did not know that about him.

Come to think of it, it might be amusing, some Thanksgiving, to see him pardoning a tofurkey…

It is perhaps not to Ben Carson’s credit is he is campaigning against a gentlemen who is quite certainly not going to be running for President next year.

“full extent” of “Republican hypocricy”?

That’s like the Limit of Infinity or Too Much Garlic. Ain’t no such animal.

Was Reagan chopped liver? He was the main purveyor of “Government can’t solve the problem. Government IS the problem.” He set the tone for practically all Republicans since. He was absolute poison to the very concept of responsible governemt and rulemaking through deliberate ignorance.

I’ve already noticed that the dog-whistle crowd is unhappy with Trump for picking up a bullhorn and ruining their (increasingly im)plausible deniability. At this point, further whining from the party establishment has no real value beyond the train-wreck entertainment of watching the sorcerer’s apprentice try to stop the animated brooms before he gets washed away.
