For me it is in South Carolina. You know, Lou Holtz and the Gamecocks. I am not a damn Trojan! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: You wouldn’t need a Trojan if you didn’t have the Cocks.

Sure is an amusing novelty for South Carolina to be good at football. They weren’t bad a few years ago with that Steve Taneyhill dude taking the snaps, but everyone knew that was going to be short-lived.
And then what is the USC in California?
USC = University of Southern California. I believe it is located in central Los Angeles, but I could be wrong.
Mildly amusing story about the Gamecocks:
Some years ago, when I went to Virginia Tech, South Carolina came to town for a football game. All of the USC fans were shunted to the visitor’s section near one of the end zones. At one point, their team was driving for a score, and the fans started a chant - “Game… COCKS! Game… COCKS!” It took about ten seconds for the Tech fans to respond with a chant of their own - “Suck… COCKS! Suck… COCKS!”
Oh, well. I guess you had to be there.
“Where is USC, anyway?”
The University of Southern California? From South Carolina, proceed as follows:
Go west until you smell it.
Then south until you step in it.
And you’re there!
For the record:
USCarolina was founded in 1801.
USoCal was founded in 1880.
I’d rather be in L.A. than any part of Carolina. Of course I am a little biased because I went to So Cal.
I went to a meet at So Cal once. Every morning they had people who would come in and sweep up the glass off the deck from all the beer and liquor bottles that had been thrown over the fence. And you simply didn’t go to the bottom of the pool because they didn’t have a way of getting the glass off the bottom. Nice neighborhood, too.
For many of us who grew up in California it is still known as the “University of Spoiled Children”.
Damn, RTA, I was going to post that!
Nice sarcasm, USCdiver. For those who missed it, I don’t know if USC is technically in South Central “Let’s Riot” L.A.; but if it’s not it’s pretty darn close. I’m on the West Side, myself. Anything south of the 10 and more than a mile east of the 405 is terra incognita.
Another place USC is—Last in the PAC-10 (0-5)
A great big thank you to Paul Hackett, my favorite college football coach!
Some years ago, USC (U of Southern California Trojans) played USC (U of South Carolina Gamecocks–typically just shortened to “Cocks”). So that sorta added to the game buildup. One of the lines that was seen at the game on various posters was “The Trojans can’t hold our Cocks.” I think the Cocks lost, though.
