I don’t carry a wallet per se. My “wallet” is a Crown Royal bag, one of the smallish ones. I hate hate hate carrying anything in my pockets, so to/from work, it’s in my briefcase. Going to the store/gas station/whatever, it’s in the car console until which point I leave the car, then I just carry it in my hand.
On the rare occasions a pocket is necessary, it’s either in:
–a jacket pocket
–cargo shorts pocket
–jeans/slacks front pocket
Front pants pocket. I switched from back pocket some years back. It’s always full of stuff and I felt like I was getting a back ache from sitting on it. Joke about chiropracters: They’ll say you’re back hurts because you’re sitting on a wallet that’s too full, then offer to make it much thinner for you.
The thick wallet makes in unnecessary to button up the pocket, it just doesn’t come out easily.
The poll reminds me of what used to be done in circuses and carnivals long ago. Someone in charge would announce that there was a pickpocket working the area; instinctively, all of the men would feel for their wallets - which tipped off the circus’s employees as to where the wallets were located.
For years, I carried a Bad Motherfucker wallet. I could discretely get it out of my pocket, use a credit card, and get it back into my pocket without offending anyone. Until I slipped up a few times.
I don’t use a wallet. I use a metal clip that holds all of my cards and my cash and I keep it in my right front pocket. I’ve heard it’s more difficult to pick a front pocket because you’re more likely to notice it.
Back right pants pocket, usually, open unless there is both a button and I’ve thought it wise in the circumstances to fasten it. Apparently as a right-hander, I’m odd for putting my wallet in my right back pocket instead of the left. A lot of my pants only have a button on the left pocket. Oh well. Sometimes in crowds I’ll put my wallet in a front pocket to make it slightly harder for pickpockets. But that’s rare.
If you put your wallet in your back pocket and still sit on it, pull your pants up. I haven’t sat on my wallet in a long time. Or stop buying low-rise pants. Another option is to get JNCOs or something with long back pockets so your wallet ends up somewhere near the back of your knee.
Next poll I do, I’ll have enough sleep and figure out all the variables next time. I know my mother carries a wallet with her in the same way, I should have added it.:smack:
None of the above. It’s on a shelf next to my bed, and I never take it anywhere unless I expect to be asked to show ID on some particular errand on that outing. Otherwise, I just have ready cash in my pants pocket, and carry a credit card, library card, medicare card, whatever, in my shirt pocket depending on where I am going.
Those of us who do not drive have retained the right to move about without being asked for ID papers, in most states.
If I’m wearing a coat, then it’s in the coat. I almost always have at least a light jacket with me, so it lives in the outside right pocket most of the time. Some of my jackets have zippered pockets and I use that mostly to ensure it doesn’t fall out when I sit down.
If necessary, I’ll put it in the right front pocket of my pants. I can’t imagine wanting it in the back pocket.
Generally when my car is parked at work or home it stays in my car, in the center console. When I’m actually going in stores or something it’s in my open back right pocket.
In my purse in the front compartment. My comb and calculator live in the back compartment. My eyeglass cleaning kit is in the outer zippered compartment. Are you properly impressed by my mad organizational skills??

Which is what keeps the wallet in my back pocket from being a target for pickpockets; it’s too fat for easy removal.
In the car. I rarely need it outside the car, and I hate sitting on it for my longish commute, so there it stays full-time. I carry some cash and my debit card in my shirt pocket.
