Was Vicente Fox (or some other representative of Mexico) there?
I saw King Abdullah of Jordan in pews. He sure does look like Jerry Mathers.
Vicente Fox sent his wife, Marta, as his representative.

Anybody see John Kerry?
Yes, on several occasions.
Caroline Kennedy was also there.
As long as France represents itself somehow, I dont see the problem.
Snubbing by not having anybody attend is one thing, but this is the death of someone whos been out of office for 16 years.
I’m sure if the French President of 16 years ago died George Bush wouldnt be seen within 5000 miles (nor should he be).
Thanks for the pic link, skutir. I don’t know why I missed Carter and Ford - I saw Bush the Elder. and Barbara clearly on television. Camera angles, I suppose, or perhaps I just wasn’t expecting such white hair on Carter and so didn’t recognize him.
Another camera angle “problem” - every time the camera was on Nancy, Patty was clearly visible beside her, but I never saw a full face shot of Ron Jr. I assume that was him sitting on the other side of Patty - the best view I saw of him was just half of his face.
Who was the man in military uniform escorting Nancy?
Was either Walter Mondale or Geraldine Ferraro there?
Mondale, as a former VP, should have been there.
Apparently the funeral was indeed invitation-only for 2,100 people.
I note that Merv Griffin was one of the honorary pallbearers. Who would have guessed?
Mondale was also present, it seems, but no word about Ferraro.
For those who feel slighted by Chirac not attending the funeral, note that his statement on Reagan’s death referred to Reagan as “a great statesman who will leave a deep mark in history because of the strength of his convictions and his commitment to democracy.” Canada PM Paul Martin didn’t show up either, and apparently his letter of condolence was rather more lukewarm in tone. Are you going to be ticked at him too, or is this a knee-jerk French thing?
I’m not bothered by current heads of state choosing not to show up at the funeral; they have their own countries to run, after all. I frankly don’t see Bush going overseas to represent us at another past leader’s funeral, either. (Who do you think would go if Yeltsin, say, keeled over tomorrow? My money would be on Colin Powell.)
“Canada will be represented at the funeral by Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson.”
Isn’t that a position from when Canada was a colony? Doesn’t that mean the UK has 4 representatives and Canada none :dubious:
