Where'd you get your Bord Name?

When I first used a chatroom, I saw that <username> was always followed by “says”. Being a big Family Feud fan, I took up the name Survey. Survey says… wow, that isn’t really funny anymore. Damn.

The 1215 refers to my DOB.

My last name is Scanlon, a fairly common Irish name. One day I met a Federal Tax Judge by the name of O’Scannlain. We got to talking and it turned out we were (very) distantly related, and apparently our ancestor just chose different spelling when they arrived at Ellis Island. His first name was diamud, which is gaelic for diamond. I always liked that name, and it is never taken on a board, so here I am.

I am hyper, and I am a girl. There isn’t much to wonder about.

My Hebrew name is Baruch Ze’ev which, loosely translated is “Blesséd Wolf”

Never having studied latin, I can’t say with any certainty how accurate the translation is… but I’ve seen it on more than one web page containing everyday phrases translated into latin.

Anyway, Radix Lecti is latin for couch potato.

What better way to mix pretense with humility?

Mine’s simple enough: It’s my first name. I just never use the capital J when I’m using it as a user name or log-in name.

Maybe I’ll share the story behind it someday.

Jeyen

Hmmm. If it were only a radioactive screech-owl, you’d be fighting crime in tights and a cape right now.

Works for me.

And how do you know that isn’t the case?

I’m one of those people who have fun at a party, etc., by sitting back and watching people. I’m enjoying myself, but the gregarious ones think I’m bored, or shy. My other choice was Sponge, but Wallflower seemed to be more flattering, for some reason.

Well, my friend gave me this name because I watch Pokemon and have one of the stuffed animals, which is called a Togepi. We had just watched the anime Fushigi Yugi, and been looking at some web sites about it, where they constantly refer to “the Suzaku no Miko,” or the priestess of Ssuzaku. so he started calling me the priestess of the Togepi, i.e. Togepi no Miko.

It’s better than the handle I had in the old days of fidonet, echotimelord.

And there you have it.

I wasn’t in on any of the other posts about choosing board names. I shave my head, so there’s your chrome. The spot makes it like punctuation. I don’t know that I actually resemble punctuation in any other way.

Like most guys named Jay, I have been called Jaybird for most of my life. As I got older Jaybird metamorphosized into Birdman. 12 was the jersey number I have worn in every sport I’ve played. When I signed onto my first ISP, I tried to use the name Birdman, but it was taken. So I tried Birdman12, but that was also taken. So I tried JBirdman12, and it worked. So I’ve been going by that name ever since.

Mine comes from the Heavy Metal group Iron Maiden. Their mascot’s name is Eddie the Head cause of a joke that goes like this:

There was a little boy who was only a head named Eddie. After a few years the parents had enough money to buy Eddie a special gift for his birthday, a new body. Well the parents were all excited when his b-day come around and that morning said to Eddie “Eddie we have a very special gift that we think you’re going to like!” To which Eddie replied “Oh no, not another fucking hat!”

I changed the name to Edward just to be a little different.

Just to annoy everyone in my family i blame everything bad that I did as a kid on an imaginary evil twin named Skippy. This REALLY torques off my nephew…that alone makes it all worth while!

I’m Magic8ball because… well, actually, I don’t know why. But just for future reference, I AM A GIRL… people keep calling me a boy.

GRR.

Mine comes from the fact that my mom said that I was supposed to be a flower child but i was born in the wrong era. It’s true. since I was 12 I have prayed for a buckskin jacket and really long hair that I could braid around the top of my head with flowers…etc. I was a true blue hippie.

Mine comes from the best damn mammal in all of the seven seas.

I go along with you and others who use their name. I find it saves me from having to remember one more thing. And a lot of time trying to type some of the long and complex board names I see. I don’t see how some of them can be done without a typo now and then.

But then I’m 80 years old and in the opinion of some, by that age you axle has begun to wobble quite badly.

I always say to myself, “Keep It Simple, Stupid.”

Ssarl is Martian, an Ice Warrior - a species from Doctor Who.
I invented the name for him when writing about Ice Warriors in Year Six. He was my old name on here until it STOPPED WORKING. Grr.
It’s really handy having a name that’s not a real word, and I use Ssarl practically everywhere.
Kamelion is a shape shifting andriod from the same series, and I think he has a pretty cool name.
