Where'd you get your Bord Name?

It’s a pun on Hobbes’ Leviathan, in that most people call me Trev in the real world. I picked it despite the fact that I’ve never read any Hobbes and probably won’t in the forseeable future.

I’ve always loved the movie Fletch w/ Chevy Chase. He’s always inventing some new persona as he works on ‘the case.’ At one point, someone asks his name and he’s unprepared - as he flounders for a last name to go with “John”, he mumbles Cock…toas…ten.

Sorry to disappoint any of the prurient ones…

Stentor is a type of paramecium. It also sounds like the name of a really cheesy anime villain.

Furthermore, the word stentor comes from the latin word for “trumpet”.

That is all.

It’s a semi-acronym for my former band, the name of which was While Supplies Last, hence WSLer.

A phoenic play on my real last name that an old boss called me as well as a real word. Besides, Locutus of Bord was already taken.

lainaf is my user name everywhere I go. My name is Elaine, but my niece, when she was small, called me Laina. My last initial is “f”. I always wonder if people think “laina-f” when they see the name, or if they think it’s just nonsense.
If I had it to do over, I would’ve picked a really cool name when I registered. I want to be Bosda Di’Chi of Tricor or Flamsterette_X.

Eleusis was the name of an ancient Greek city were the Spring Mysteries were held: a city-wide festival where consumption of mind-altering substances was the central activity in a celebration of the return of Spring.

Upham? did you get lots of stick after Saving Private Ryan came out?
My first ‘bord’ name was my real last name (Lobley)

My second and current board name is the son of time, from Terry Pratchett’s ‘Thief of Time’

I thougt you were a ‘boy’. Your name isn’t feminine enough.

My nick in chatrooms used to be ‘Fortesque’. The name of the main character on a computer game I played a lot at the time (Medievil - Playstation) People would often mistake me for female, I don’t know why, Fortesque doesn’t sound feminine to me.

Menocchio was a miller in northern Italy in the 15th century.

He had some odd beliefs about God and the universe. For example, he explained his theory that the earth predates God by explaining that the world is like a molding ball of cheese, and God and his angels are the worms that spring up from it. He explained this to the Inquisition during his first of two convictions for heresy. Despite the fact the the Inquisition practically bent over backwatrds to avoid killing the guy, he practically forced them to burn him at the stake.

In short, he was an idiot. He publicly denouced Catholic dogma and found his spirituality from misunderstood snatches from paganism and the Koran, mangled renderings of archaic theological treatises, and his own observations, feelings and intellect. To most outside observers, his religion was shallow, provincial, and more than a bit silly. Moreover, in a time where such things could be suicidal, he didn’t seem to care who knew what he believed.

A role model for us all.

I like the song “Viva Las Vegas.”
I like going to Lost Wages.

And there you go.

What can I say, I like Cuervo Gold !

I am one. Getting black belt was one of the first difficult goals I ever set for myself, and achieved.

It’s my favourite cheese. Best had when it’s been aged a bit - once you’ve tasted aged gouda, resistance really is futile!!

mine is a nickname from school which kinda stuck-
it is a homonym of my surname (Frazer)
i was a poet
and i had a quote for every occasion.

I lifted mine from an episode of Monty Python’s Flying Circus

My favourite film’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly so I chose the name of one of the main characters from that - I couldn’t chose the Good because he was known as Blondie and I’m not blond or a fan of the band. I couldn’t chose the Bad as he’s called Angel Eyes and that sounds like a girls name, so the Ugly it was (is?).

Its that pure onre sound I make the first thing in the morning, when I haven’t gotten enough “zzz’s”…

For the record, I also am female. FEEEEMALE. FE-MALE. Good lord, people isn’t glarGH feminine enough for you?!?!

I mine got in the Mil, as a call sign.

on graduation day from flight school, pulled a triple snap roll in a very conspicous location and under the hard deck (big no, no!!) chatted up 3 women (w/ phone numbers), won 3 different competions that night. one of the older pilots, dubbed me Hattrick more in honor of the snap rolls, but found out the rest of the story later. also worked well for my recon pilot job.

‘Hattrick gets his kicks
from taking the Pix (out of others)’

A friend gave me my nickname because I’m little, I have curly hair, and my voice can get kinda squeaky.
