Where's the D.C. snow? feb 15

oops my apologies, with all my “I’m a pilot” bragging I just saw the weather channel and new york is north of washington dc. I was assuming without double checking that it was the other way around and wondering if ny had snow so should Dc. My bad.
Should have checked the map and shut my trap.

Evidently it’s all coming in one big pile starting tomorrow night.

I knew it was a good idea not to put the plants out on the patio just yet.

I blame Asimovian!

If he could make it snow like this, he’d be a Millionaire with his own chain of ski lodges in NH and VT. He’d have a Huge house with a heated indoor Olympic-sized pool.
After his morning laps, he’d climb the ladder out, put a towel around his shoulders, walk to his breakfast table (the one next to the Huge thermal pane bay windows) and he’d shake his head at the skiers whizzing down the slopes.

At some point, he’d raise his glass of champagne and say, “Gee, I wonder how the Other half live?”

Bring it!

This is it?? I’m more than a little disappointed.

This was pretty weak.

Car was a block of ice, but ran the engine and heater for about 15 minutes and it all basically came off in a few big sheets.

Roads were just wet. Didn’t even see anyone sliding down my street last night (it’s a fairly steep hill).

Where are you at? Here in Gaithersburg, MD it was a mix. There was ice last night, then some snow on top. The Gov was 3 hours late and I was thinking on going in, but when I was shoveling it was sleeting pretty hard so I decided to stay home.

Heh. I lived up-country MD when I lived in that area. Fort Ritchie, NE of Hagerstown and just at the Mason-Dixon line.

We always got brisk snowfalls whenever DC and Baltimore were getting ice. I wonder if they got a good fall out of this, up on South Mountain?

This was also my thinking. I’m working from home and go out at intervals to shovel/scrape.

I’m in Hyattsville. It looked pretty serious at 1100 last night; the street went from just wet to completely white in about 10 minutes. But by midnight it had changed from snow to sleet to sleet/rain. Plows and salt trucks were everywhere, and comprised the majority of the other vehicles on the road.

I came into the office. Just a couple other people here. Guess everyone else figured they should take advantage of liberal leave while they have the chance. Whatever. I got to sleep in and I’m off tomorrow anyways, so I don’t mind coming in.

I grew up on the same side of the mountain, between Wolfsville and Myersville. I believe they got it pretty good, though I don’t know how much. Hagerstown I believe got 10 inches or so.

We’re inside the Beltway in Silver Spring; it was nasty even with a couple inches of snow this morning. I work for DC Public Schools, and we had a two hour delay. Out of 350 students only 79 attended. I spent my afternoon watching 6 preschoolers peacefully playing with blocks, using their imaginations.

It’s been a warm winter in a lotr of the US. We got no snow here in northwest Arkansas until this past week or so. At least, none that stuck. And, just last week, temps were in the 70s (low-mid 20s Celsius). The weather in the US this year is not typical.
