Lived in Ontario my whole life. Been to all provinces except for Newfoundland & Labrador but planning on fixing that this summer. Been to Yukon a number of times (my brother lives there) but have not made it to the other two territories. It’s on my bucket list.
Just British Columbia, and of that only Vancouver.
I really enjoyed it, however. A nice change of scene from home.
And come to think of it, just today while hearing something about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opening the Calgary Stampede, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the fact that one country is large enough to contain a monarchy, rodeos, and Francophone “old towns” very reminiscent of places you’d see in Europe. Among many other things, of course.
Labrador?
What could possibly have drawn you to Labrador ?
Myself I’ve just been to all the mainland provinces, Yet I live on Vancouver Island which used to be a separate colony.
Simply because I wanted to be able to say (as I did in this thread) I’d been to Newfoundland and Labrador in the literal sense. Since I was going to Newfoundland, it seemed worth it to hop over to Labrador on the ferry.
I found it to be an interesting experience, actually. The ferry had this interesting turntable by which cars turned around to drive off the biat. On the ferry I actually saw a whale in the distance, and there were icebergs in the water (this was July). We visited a Basque Whaling Museum in Red Bay, and spent the night in a B&B run by some of the friendliest folks I’ve ever met. And I still marvel at the fact that the ferry couldn’t go fully within the province, but had to land just a tad over the Quebec border, from which we then drove into Labrador.
Canadian Cities: Quebec (City), Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver.
I’ve been Montreal about 8-10 times in my life; the other 3 only once.
Other Canada: Niagara Falls (twice), skiing at Mt Sutton and Bromont (several times).
I’ve only been to Ontario, Niagara Falls and Niagara-On-The-Lake.
Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Yukon, and B.C.
Canada is largely all coastline, right?
I’m Canadian. I’ve been to every province but no territories.
(Actually, I’m not entirely sure that I’ve set foot in Saskatchewan. It’s possible that we just drove right through in a day, but I’m counting it)
Border to border the Trans Canada Highway in Saskatchewan is 650 kms. Thats way upper end for a tank of gas. I don’t believe they have full service gasoline fill up stations there either. Thats also about a minimum of 6 hours between pee breaks.
A goal of mine someday is to compete in the Alcan Rally.
Yep. Especially if you count the shores of all the interior lakes and rivers.
One of my favourite trivia questions: How many Canadian provinces/territories do not have a saltwater coastline?
Just two: Alberta and Saskatchewan.
BC, all the Territories, and the Atlantic Provinces are no-brainers as to saltwater coasts, but even Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec border Hudson Bay, which is salt. Quebec further is on the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and also borders the Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay.
Just three - Ontario, Québec and Nova Scotia (in fact I expect official business to take me back to Halifax in early August, after nearly 6 years).
London, UK (there was a stop in St. John’s before we crossed the Atlantic).
Have lived in:
Saskatchewan
Ontario
Quebec
Have visited all the provinces except PEI, and have visited Yukon, but not the other two territories.
Never been to Canada, but my direct ancestor, Sir Humphrey Gilbert, I believe is the discoverer of Nova Scotia. Really.
According to Wikipedia, he was the first to stake the English claim to Newfoundland – England’s first imperial possession.

Oh, an airport stop. For some reason, I read your statement as meaning a “drive-through.”
Four provinces on 3 different trips:
- Band trip to Calgary Stampede 1981. (Alberta only)
- Trip with parents, driving from Seattle to ferry crossing in Canada to go over to Victoria, then back via ferry through the San Juan Islands. (BC)
- Honeymoon in Montreal. Drove back along the northern shore of Lake Ontario. Crossed to US and stayed the night in Niagara Falls, NY. Travel advisory: stay on the Canadian side of the Falls; NF, NY is a creepy town. (Que, Ont)
I’m so embarrassed - I got it half right. I forgot Alberta, the province I’ve called home for the last 21 years. :smack:
