I just wanted to start this thread because I felt really impressed with Jennifer Ellison.
There’s currently a reality TV show in the UK called ‘Hell’s Kitchen’, in which celebrities tutuoured by Gordon Ramsey (Top british celeb chef) need to run a busy restraunt.
One of the celebs is Jennifer Ellison. Before this I thought she was a bit of a Britney Spears style bimbo with a STRONG scouse accent. But since watching Hell’s Kitchen my opinion of her has risen and risen. Underneath that strong scouse accent, natural blonde hair, and baby face is a likeable intelligent down to earth girl who can cook
Also risen in my opinion due to that show are Al Murray, James Drefuss, and to a lesser extent Matt Goss (or is it Luke Goss?, It’s something Goss anyway).
So, who, due to a TV show or anything, has fundementally changed for the better in your opinion?
I must say, my estimation of C.T. could not have been much lower pre-Monster, based on the few films I had seen her in (“Bagger Vance”, “Cider House Rules”, “Devils Advocate”); about the best review I could give her was “pretty and bland”. Then along comes “Monster” and: Wow. I really didn’t know she had that kind of performance in her. I’ll concede the makeup helped me lose the pretty mannequin preconception, but I thought she pulled off a characterization on the order of a Raging Bull, and nobody is more surprised to see me writing that than myself.
The Diary series on MTV has changed my opinion of several celebrities I hadn’t know much about. Avril Lavigne just seemed like a nice Canadian kid as opposed to spawn of Satan. Julia Stiles came off very well too. Just a down-to-earth New Yorker.
After a youth plagued by “New Kids on the Block,” I had a difficult time accepting what a great job Donnie Wahlberg did in Band of Brothers. His name on a project is actually a plus in my book now, which is a rather shocking development.
Prince: I’m not a big fan of his music although I respect his musical talents. He always struck me as being a bit of a stuck-up flake. Then he made an appearance on Muppets Tonight!. He even did a mild parody of “Raspberry Beret”.
Garth Brooks: I hate his music and his overall cheesiness, but after his stint as the host of SNL, he doesn’t sicken me as much.
Bottom line is that I’ll have more respect for any celeb who’s willing to make a complete ass of themselves.
Now, believe you me, this was not something I was looking forward to doing. When I was given the tickets as a present, I was wondering what I had done to the gift-giver to make them hate me so. After all, this was fricking Carrot Top…lord douchebag of 1-800-CALL-ATT commercials. Purveyor of cinema like Chairman Of The Board. A fricking prop comic, fercrissake! And I was going to see this assmuch live??
Holy. Fricking. Hillarious.
His show was amazing. Very tight, always funny, hardly any prop garbage (and what he did do was funny). I don’t care how much you think he sucks – if he’s playing live in your area, GO!
Justin Timberlake on SNL. I doubt I’ll ever buy one of his CDs, but he handled that appearance quite well, leading me to think he could have a respectable movie career ahead of him one day a la Mark Wahlberg.
Also, Pia Zadora in Hairspray. Has she done anything since then?
Never a big fan, and always thought he was pretty full of himself as far as political aspirations, but after seeing him on the show he seemed to be a very intelligent guy and talked alot of common sense. I was converted.
