Basterds’ Richardson has won twice before (JFK, The Aviator) and Harry Potter’s Bruno Delbonnel has been nominated in the past (though this his first for an English-language movie). Otherwise, a slate of fresh newcomers, as well as the first Cinematography nomination for a film shot entirely in digital.
Which would get your vote?
I haven’t seen White Ribbon, but I’ll have to cast my vote for Avatar. The fact that the shots were composed on a computer instead of a camera makes little difference to me – the final product was beautiful.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I thought Harry Potter 6 was absolutely beautiful.
Seriously, it deserves both both the nomination and the win.
