We’ll be on our way to our honeymoonin Vegas soon and came into some extra cash. We can afford the cirque du soleil show but which one, the O show at the Bellagio or Mystere at Treasure Island? Is there a better place to spend our hard found cash? 60 table dances at the Crazy Horse II perhaps?
I’ve heard that Mystere at Treasure Island is the more entertaining, though O may be more flashy. Either way, you really can’t go wrong, but like I said, I’ve heard Mystere was slightly better.
What do you think of water shows, like the kind at Sea World and other aquariums? If you like them, go for O. That’s essentially what it is, except the performers are human. The higher up your seats are (elevation-wise, not row-wise) the better, as you can see the entire floor and inside the pool. Those seats will be more expensive, but they’re definitely worth it. It’s probably the best live performance of any kind I’ve ever seen.
Plus, it’s in the Bellagio, which has the most incredible buffet on the planet! (They’ve also got a cool souvenir shop, where you can buy shirts, tote bags, keychains, CDs, posters, etc.)
You can buy tickets online here.
O is on my top ten list of most amazing things I’ve ever seen. Incredible show. Reaffirms your belief that human beings can do anything.
I saw the O about a year ago. I’m going to Vegas again in May and even though I could see the other one, I have it stuck in my head that there’s no way the it could possibly be as good as the O, so I’m seeing the O again. The O is AMAZING. You’ll never see anything like it again. (unless of course you go and see it again)
Probably doesn’t matter. I’ve seen a couple of Cirque shows, and they both kicked ass. One we went to three times (La Nouba in Orlando), and the production, talent, and themes are all amazing.
So Cirque du Soleil has a permanent set-up in Las Vegas? Didn’t know that. The original show is sitting in its blue and gold striped tents about two miles from where I sit here in Atlanta.
I’ve seen both and if I had to choose from only those two, I would probably go see Mystere again.
If you get the chance, the Blue Man Group show down at the Luxor is also awesome.
I have seen Mystere, Dralion, Alegria (twice, one on the road, once in Biloxi), and another whose name is escaping me at the moment.
They have all been truly incredible, visually and audibly. I am sure that O is as well. I have never been disappointed.
But Mystere was the best of them all, so far, for me. It’s the one I remember most, it’s the one that I listen to the soundtrack most often.
One of the most entertaining shows I have ever seen.
Vegas has two. Disney World has one as well (which I should be seeing next month, woo!)
Mystere is cheaper, if that helps.
Mystere has greater flexibility with the costumes (since they’re not being dunked in water ever 25 seconds) and with stage decoration (not having to deal with a 3 million gallon - or whatever - tank of water) so it’s the more artistic of the two shows, IMHO.
Personally, I also enjoyed the performances more (something that may have been influenced by it having been my first CdS show).
Mystere is awesome. I strongly recommend it.
But I have not seen O.
FWIW, the strongest Cirque show of all was Quidam, in my opinion.
Thanks so much, I just got our tickets to Mystere.
Want to post a thanks to everyone who offered their opinion. The Mystere show was astonishing. My reaction was everything from a sense of awe and wonder to “what’s the deal with that?” Money and an evening well spent. A high point on a wonderful honeymoon.
