Based somewhat on this thread http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=c12748194ecdc1. Its’ pretty simple: Which “Friends” Guy or Girl would you like to date. Two stipulations. One, we are talking about the “Friends” cast as of the end of this last season. Two, assume Monica and Chandler aren’t married (some people, like me, have trouble thinking about a married person that way).
I would date Phoebe. I like her personality the most out of all of them and I could see laughing a lot with her. I normally prefer brunettes to blonds, but her personality outshines Monica’s.
Chandler. To me, witty enough to make me laugh = intelligent…and he can be so sweet sometimes.
Joey is just too dumb sometimes, Ross has gotten very neurotic and whiny and immature…I don’t know if that’s the writers’ way of having him deal with his three divorces, or if they just don’t know what to do with him.
Being straight and female…I won’t comment on the gals…
Phoebe is too sarcastic and crazy, Monica takes things too seriously, and Rachel seems to have the perfect personality. Joey is Joey and gooey, Ross is even more gooey, and Chandler is funny. So Rachel and Chandler, o_O maybe just the episodes I’ve seen.
Phoebe gets on my nerves (Yeah…okay…fill-in a wacky comment here), Monica’s too neurotic and OCP for even me , so Rachel for a relationship.
But the self-destructive part of me could see getting drunk and having a one-night stand with Janice, waking up hungover the next morning, hearing that voice, and running screaming down the street half dressed.
It’s pretty obvious that most people here prefer Chandler. Why, you ask? Because only Chandler would be a doper!
Think about it - Joey’s too dumb; Phoebe’s so kooky she’s practically Icelandic, and wouldn’t have the attention span to stay; Ross would have a meltdown after meeting his first Creationist; Monica would get into long, pointless flame wars, eventually getting banned after threatening to sue the Reader. Rachel might last a bit longer - she’d turn MPSIMS into her own little domain - but esooner or later she’d develop an enormous crush on some doper, fly half way across the country to “surprise” him, get arrested for stalking, and it’ll all be kind of sad, really.
Chandler, on the other hand, is smart, witty and has no self esteem. Perfect doper material.
