No particular reason for this poll, I’m just a bit bored.
(Note: None of the above, I can’t stand ‘Friends’, etc. are deliberately omitted as options; if such answers apply to you, please move along, return to your homes, there’s nothing to see here)
Chandler was the funniest of all the characters and the cutest of the three guys. I liked all of them in general, but the rest of them really got on my nerves at one time or another and his character never did.
IMO, early on they were all much more likable. Pheobe had a quirky innocence to her. Joey was kind of dumb, but not the raging moron that he became. But in most long-lived shows, as they age, the characters almost become caricatures of their early selves.
Easily Phoebe. Lisa Kudrow was hotter than her female co-stars, she was by far the funnest performer of the six, her character was relatively underused, and her character never became as unlikeable as Ross, Monica, Joey, and Rachel often were.
Chandler and Phoebe were my choices; went with Chandler simply on the basis of identification with the character. And I think I’m part of the consensus that the other four each had their turns at being annoying. Despite that, I still love this show and watch re-runs constantly.
I like both Chandler and Phoebe, but Phoebe’s quirkiness was sometimes too much and I liked Chandler’s sense of humor more. Although, the falling inove with and marrying Monica almost cancels that out. You didn’t ask but I find Monica to be the most annoying.
I saw no evidence that she was trying to hide it. I rather enjoyed it when, irritated by a squabbling Rachel & Monica, she overpowered them both simultaneously, pinching an ear on each so hard they were forced to their knees, and not letting go till they apologized. And then, stroking their heads lovingly, said, “You know, if this were prison, you’d both be my bitches.”
Phoebe was the only one who never annoyed me. In general I liked the female characters better than the male, which is probably because Joey went from being a bit dim to a bit braindead, and Ross became one of the most annoying characters in big-sitcom history.
