Which Lite Brite jingle do you remember?

This site appears to have a lot of 80s commercials, but no light bright. Also, from http://www.inthe80s.com/tvcommercials/l.shtml

“Lite Bright, makin’ things with li-ii-iight.”

That’s all I can remember.

You know. My sister had the light bright and would never let me play with it. She had all the cool toys. What really pissed me off is she would never even play with it herself. She was “saving” all the little templates… For what, I’ll never know. If she’d used 'em all, that would be one thing. For some reason, my parents supported her territorialism when it came to the Lite Bright, instead of making her share. I wonder what toy I got at the same time she got her Lite Bright, that was supposed to be the “equivalent” toy?

I might have to go out and buy a Lite Bright myself, at age 35, and then call my sister and tell her she can’t play with it! (She’d probably laugh and say, “I had a Lite Bright?”)

You know, guys, now that I think about it, both verses could be right; I seem to remember the verse I mentioned, then a musical vamp while the happy male announcer listed the wonders of Lite Brite, and then perhaps there was another verse to end the commercial with the “Out of Sight”?

I remember it as:

Lite Brite, makin’ things with liiight…
what a sight, making really fucked up, trippy shapes that spring up off of the page and come at you leaving you huddled in the corner, screaming “Dude! Turn that fucking thing off! AUGH!! The colors are trying to kill me!!”

Well, actually, that was just one time. I generally remember it the way your co-worker does.

I’m 27, and I remember the OP’s version - “turn on the magic of colored light” (although I also seem to remember a version that replaced “colored” with “shining”).

I also remember the My Little Pony and My Buddy jingles, monstro – I wonder if we watched a leeeetle too much TV as youngsters?

My brother and I used to play a game wherein we competed to guess/state the name of the product earliest in the commercial – that was fun.

Same here, I don’t know any other version of it. I’m 26.

I remember far too many jingles from that era, as well.

“My Buddy!
Kid Sister!
My Buddy!
Kid Sister!”

And obscure toys like Keypers, Fairy Tails, cereals like the Mario Bros/Donkey Kong cereals (“Two cereals in one! Yeah!”) and C3PO’s, “Zelda! Zelda!”, and the old “We’ve got the fever for the flavour of a Pringles! (Fever!) Feeeeeveeeer!”

Dogzilla, you don’t need to buy one, because you can play with it here!

I remember the “turn on the magic of colored light” version too. I’m 24. Never knew there was another version!

Thanks, to everyone, for your responses. It’s looking like an age difference thing, so I suppose we both know the “correct” Lite Brite jingle.

This is awesome, Dooku. Your parents must have been so proud!

I’m 22, and I remember the “turn on the magical colored light” version. I had a Lite Brite; I had it set up on top of one of the stereo speakers. I don’t know why.

I also have the “My Buddy” and “My Little Pony” jingles stuck in my head now. I didn’t own either one of those though.

I’m 26 and remember the OP’s version.

I never had a Lite Brite, but my downstairs neighbors did. We were always losing the pegs in the shag carpet.

47 with the co-worker – what a sight, making things with lite bite.

I’m with the co-worker-- I’m 33. I wonder if we could pin the age difference down to, say 30. Some switch between the 29 year-old Draelin and me. So perhaps a change sometime in range 1980-1985?

Thanks for the god damned My Little Pony song in my head, you jerks. What can I retaliate with. . . Greatest American Hero! GI Joe is There! Gee Eyee Jooooee!
And weebles wobble. . .

But they don’t fall down!

33, and I remember your co-worker’s version.

Now I’m sitting here trying not to giggle as all these different jingles pop into my head.

“Mr. Mouth, Mr. Mouth…”
“Pop the Pop-a-matic!”
“It walks down stairs, alone or in pairs…”

And does anyone remember a toy called “Sit ‘n’ Spin”?

Yes, I remember my grandpa giving me and my brother Sit ‘n’ Spins and telling us not to get sick. We giggled. How in the world could anyone get “sick” from going around and around and around and around and around and around and…
Well, I never understood what he was on about until I got old and bought one for my kid. I jumped on and went around and around and…whew, that was enough!

Any household that had both a Sit n’ Spin and some Pixie Sticks could have been self sufficient for energy. Just hook that toy up to a dynamo, give the kid a fresh stick every hour and sit back.

I remember having some Weebles, including the tree house.

Have you ever tried to play “Operation” with competitive people? My uncle and cousins would all be nudging the table when someone was removing a piece.

**Kyla, ** shag carpets could hold many surprises for the shoeless. Everything from Lite-Brite pegs to Legos to Army Men that had been dug in and camoflaged.

I bought my nephew a Sit’n’Spin when he was two. It took some effort to track down, but the look on his face when I showed him how to use it made it all worth it. I wish my ass wasn’t too fat to try it again, myself. I loved that thing when I was a kid.

Hey! My timely friend just sent me this! No Lite Brite, but lots of others! X-Entertainment’s 80s Commercials
