The hat. So that when I’m doing poorly, I can turn it upside down.
this
Dog because I like dogs. Actually, I don’t play anymore, but when I was a kid this was true.
Naval buff here, so it’s the battlewagon.
I’m a dog person. It’s my defining characteristic!
Which one I wanted on any given day changed around.
The dog, because he can stand on his nose.
I was always the hat ever since I met Bode’s Cheech Wizard.
“Anybody got a problem with that gets a kick in the nads.”
Moneybagsit’s so round and stable…
I just always liked it, it never really fell over or anything. Just like a little anti-Buddha.
The wheelbarrow. Ever since I was a kid, it was the most logical: you want something you could carry ridiculous amounts of cash in, right? You cannot do that in a thimble. You cannot do this with a Yorkie or whatever that little canine is. You certainly cannot do it with an iron. I was really surprised to see that no one here had picked it. I was too much of a loner to consider a ship or train. My second choice was the shoe, but I don’t remember why.
Always the cannon.
Shoe - because I kick butt.
Whatever’s closest.
Always the iron. I like to flatten the competition.
The Thimble, then the Iron. I like that they’re harder to knock over. I always accidentally knocked over the dog, horse, and somehow, the car.
The Hat of course! I thought I was the only one, but I see that us fellow Monopoly Hat Wearers have taken 3[sup]rd[/sup] place so far.
We always called it a statue in our house, too. And we kids always fought over who got to play that token–it was everyone’s favorite!
Lately I’ve been playing with young nieces and nephews, so I haven’t really had a chance to choose. I’ve been the ship most often.
Of course many years ago psychologists divined the meaning behind each of these choices:
Wheelbarrow - murderer
Battleship - mass murderer
Hat - likes kinky sex
Dog - likes even kinkier sex
Shoe - foot fetishist
Iron - domesticated
Cannon - recently fired
Car - needs phallic symbol
Thimble - penis envy
Horse - just the opposite
Moneybag - rich bastard
Train - hobo
Hasbro’s research in 1998 was slightly different :
Most Popular Monopoly Pieces:
Race Car, 18%
Dog, 16%
Cannon, 14%
Top Hat, 10%
Battleship, 9%
Horse and Rider, 8%
Shoe, 8%
Thimble, 7%
Iron, 7%
Wheelbarrow, 3%
I heard somewhere that the latest versions no longer have the horse statue, which pisses me off because it’s my favorite. I know the new iPhone app doesn’t have it as an option. No dog, either. On the iPhone I don’t care what I play, what with my two favorites gone.
