Which poster writes the best?

[blushes prettily]

Well, I like just about everyone here—even the few really bad, annoying writers and humorless pedants are good for a jaw-dropping read.

[Ike, for goodness sake, put down that cocktail shaker and ring for some appetizers!]

In seriousness, IMO TomnDebb wins what is a very close race.

. . . “Here’s the pitch, J.B—it’s sort of Burns and Allen, sort of Breakfast with the Bickersons! With a little bit of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolfe!”

A little curious, m’dear - what could you POSSIBLY do other than “prettily”? Unless, we are to assume that for you, mere prettiness is a diminuitive?

I’m still around. My rage has mellowed with age, like a fine red wine. You know, the kind of wine that you got as a housewarming gift several years ago, and you think that your new promotion at your job is a fine occasion to celebrate, so you dig through drawer after drawer for a corkscrew until you finally find one, but you’ve been getting a little more and more annoyed that when you finally cork the bottle, it slips out of your hands, hits the dog on the head, and then spills all over the cream-coloured carpet, but you’re too busy reminding yourself that this is a happy occasion to get mad so you shove all the rage down deep inside and force a smile on your face?

Yeah, it’s that kind of rage.

I don’t think there’s one particular poster that writes “the best” but if there’s a list I’d like to add Kimstu to it.

I guess I’m a poster whore. I pretty much marvel at everyone.

Eve, ya gotta love Eve. (I think it’s a rule, but I could be mistaken.)

lieu, heh, yeah.

Fenris is OK if you like that sort of thing.

carnivorousplant, Tars Tarkas, Kn*ckers and NoClueBoy all in a lump. Especially if there’s a panda around. (Individually too, but they really shine in the Café.)

Lots and lots of other people I’m too lazy to think of right now. (If you think I mean you, yeah, I do.) Not lno though. He smells of cheese and is vaguely sticky. Bleh!

But we’re all in this together, right? Like the Great Wall of China is made up of many bricks and if you take just one away, there would be a brick-shaped hole where it was and it would make the whole Wall less interesting to be seen from space. We’re like that around here. We all count for something. (But not lno, just so we’re clear on that.)
-Rue. (kidding about lno, really)

AS this is turning into quite a list, I’ll add Tamerlane, who has, more than most (along with tomndebb, DSeid & Kimstu) and without his knowledge (as I never post in the same threads), educated me on all things to do with Iran / Iraq and the Middle East conflict.

Thank you guys.

SPOOFE. Witty…very witty.
'nuff said.

Scylla and Fenris (order interchangeable there, guys) come first up out of the mental recesses, but, I also like to read:
Nostradamus (miss seeing his posts around here, lately);
Welby
Eve
jarbabyj
Esprix
and a horde of others …

… and being Australasian I also mention kambuckta, Thylacine, Goo and TheLoadedDog (again, in no special order or preference), because they’re bright lights from DownUnder, the closest I’ll come on the SDMB to seeing stuff from home.

Oh, and I feel I need to add leechbabe to the list, as well. As I’ve said to her on the G’Dope board – she really, really should write her stuff down and turn it into a book. Or a movie.

I’ll throw SuaSponte into the mix here.

(Although, at risk of undermining any credibility I may have, I must admit that I really do like the way bj0rn get’s everyone all worked up.)

Wildest Bill - hands down.

( )

Esprix

Despite his rather vitriolic style, I’ll have to mention Collounsbury for his almost encyclopaedic knowledge of ME history and affairs.

Tamerlane — ditto, minus the vitriol. I learn a lot from his posts.

I’ll also mention jjimmm, so he doesn’t think I’ve stopped stalking him. (Really though, he often turns up in threads where I’m about to post something and he says exactly what I would have said if I’d gotten there first.

Right now NoClueBoy is the one poster who consistantly makes me laugh like an evil maniac at his every post.

I second and third much of the others mentioned above. The board is a great community.

I’m proud to be a Doper.

tomndebb consistently impresses me, not only with what he says, but because he always maintains a level of respect and calmness.

wring is also a pretty cool poster.

Scylla can write absolutely breathtaking prose with seeming ease. I’d give my eye teeth to be able to write something half as good as the Things worth doing piece he wrote for teemings where he talked about the ‘Joyous Scream of Rage and Pain’. I still read it now when I’m feeling listless, unmotivated or otherwise depressed.

tomndebb & Suasponte have the enviable ability to be able to explain complicated arguments and ideas in simple and persuasive ways. They are the best ‘GD Writers, IMO’.

Shodan, Joe_Cool, gobear and Sam Stone are all great at arguing a position while being entertaining and funny at the same time.

No-one can flame better than Cervaise. I still remember the absolute drubbing he gave to that telemarketer.

Fenris is just Hilarious! Who remembers his Jack Chick Parody threads?

Nostradamus is king of the ‘slow burning’ pit thread. Is he still around, btw?

All those mentioned above and loads more but I would like to addSteve Wright. He’s soooo English and sooooo funny

I’m always amazed by Jodi’s all-around writing skills – she can explain stuff, build a case for or against something, write clinically, write passionately, all while crafting some of the wittiest comments on this board.

(wild applause for Jodi)
