Which School Lunchbox Did You Have?

I know we went though a string of lunchboxes as kids but the only one I remember had Twiggy on it. Since I was kind of chunky, I got teased about it the first time I brought it to school. I hadn’t gone on the shopping trip when it was bought for some reason and I think it was my brother’s mean idea to get it for me. Or my mom’s dippy way to “encourage” me to slim down.

I had the Disney Robin Hood lunchbox and still remember it fondly.

Snoopy. Way cool dog house with the thermos that fit under the lid.

Loved that box.

None. I ate the crap the school served and liked it.

the Partridge Family. No wonder I got beat up in gym class.

I had the same one, i.e., this.

On one side there was a depiction of Bambi carrying that very same schoolbus lunchbox. I’d go around reciting, “…and on that lunchbox, there’s a Bambi carrying a lunchbox, and on that lunchbox, there’s a Bambi carrying a lunchbox, and on THAT lunchbox…” It blew my little mind.

I had a metal Dukes of Hazzard lunchbox, one of these, but I don’t recall which one exactly. Then I had a plastic Empire Strikes Back one.

Round about third grade (circa '82), lunchboxes were no longer “cool” so it was paper bags for the rest of my school career…

Back in the early 60’s, I had a Roy Rogers lunchbox. The curved top worked real well with the design of the box being a covered wagon. It was steel, but it didn’t prevent me from dropping it the first week or so I had it and breaking the glass in the thermos. I kept the thermos in it anyway since it fit so neatly up in the top curved part of the box.

I had a red plastic ALF lunchbox, complete with a big-ass ALF thermos which took up half of it!

I had the exact same lunchbox back in elementary school. My thermos met a particularly nasty end, though, when I tried to reheat some leftover spaghetti with it in the microwave. :frowning:

I had the red plaid lunchbox

The Six-Million Dollar Man lunchbox

… and the Super Friends lunchbox (on which Green Arrow’s beard was incorrectly depicted)

Had a Wild Wild West lunch box, with a white thermos. Not sure why, but I thought the thermos being white was sooooo cool.

I had a metal strawberry shortcake lunchbox in kindergarten. I wish I still had it!

Did it also have a pic of three snowtroopers posing around a big tripod mounted gun? Because I had that one and loved it.

A brown paper bag. For 12 years. Thanks MOM!

My grandmother ran the elementary school cafeteria. So me & my sibs got our lunches free!

The food was pretty basic southern style–not bad. Plus fresh bread, baked every day, with plenty of government surplus butter.

I remember being sorely disappointed by the Jr High cafeteria.

I had The Bionic Woman. I absolutely loved that lunchbox, but for the life of me I have no idea what happened to it.

When I was a kid in the 1950s, I was very proud of my Annie Oakley lunchbox.

Oh, man, I would’ve loved that one. Instead, I got this red barn thing with a silo thermos.

You must have been a popular kid with a lunchbox like that! (only half kidding!)

I had the Evel Knievel lunchbox, after I saw the eBay commercial I figured they would be worth a lot now. Not really. I also had the flywheel-powered Evel Kneivel motorcycle, that thing had rubber tires and would really move!

I also had Six Million Dollar Man and Yellow Submarine (think that was a hand-me-down from one of my aunts.)
