Command - Tie between Imperial class Star Destroyer and a Mediator class Star Defender. In a galaxy-scale battle I’d want one of the bigger ones, but these two are just right for personal conquests.
Pilot: A-wing. But I’d want a lot of space around me until I got the hang of it.
See, this is what television has done to our culture. No one has yet mentioned the Long Shot, the Lying Bastard, Gay Deceiver, the “Slapstick” Libby-enhanced New Frontiers, the Xeelee nightfighter-augmented Great Northern, or even the G.S.S. Suicidal Insanity.
The U.S.S. Enterprise? Are you kidding? That ship is nearly as prone to accident, incapacitation, and sudden total gratuitous existance failure as the Starship Titanic. I’d much rather fly the NSEA *Protector*, which is capable of standing up to a hideous amount of punishment even in the hands of a totally incompetent crew. And while Liberator is nearly indestructible, it seems to be a very cursed ship which also lacks even a basic operator’s manual. I’ll fly the Mary Celeste to the Moon before I set foot on Liberator.
Not me. I’ll take the Bistromath, which uses a wonderful new method of crossing vast interstellar distances without all that dangerous mucking about with Improbability Factors. I don’t want to be responsible for bringing into existance a sperm whale and a bowl of petunias several miles above the surface of a planet, only to be dashed into protoplasm on the ground below, and you just never know what other terrible problems the Improbability Drive will wreck upon your lifestyle.
The OP asked about starships from movies, but some of these are from novels. Otherwise, I’d agree on the Gay Deceiver. If you’re willing to consider Star Trek televsion shows, I’d say the Defiant.
If it *has *to be movies, then the Serenity, definitely. Either command or pilot.
Pity, I think the GSV Sleeper Service would be cool - not that you “pilot” or “command” such a ship, but to ride in, hell yeah.
That vessel had its quirks but it never got a scratch until its upgrade.
It even withstood several attacks from Nomad with the equivilant power of 90 photon torpedoes.
It can get from one Quadrent of the Galaxy to another in meere hours…
Dangit, I meant to include in my previous post - Kimbell Kinnison’s Super-Dreadnought Dauntless, since someone allowed books. Naturally I’d want a Lens to go along with it.
Not to mention that it has an SEP field. So often, I’ve tried to perfect my design for a small SEP generator for my work cube, but it doesn’t seem to work quite right.
