Which starship would you command? Pilot?

From all the starships in film. Well? And what would be your second choices?

Assume you’re in total command

I’m not too versed in Sci-Fi, but I think I’d plump for the Executor from Star Wars as the ship to command, beating the Liberator from Blake’s 7 by a smidge. Big weapons, minions, squadrons of smaller craft, what’s not to like?

For pilotting, I’ll go for the Millennium Falcon with Serenity as my second choice. The Falcon’s armed, and Han Solo’s cooler than Malcolm Reynolds.

I would definitely NOT want to command or pilot the SSD Executor; the command staff on that ship – never mind the entire task force – tends to have a poor retirement plan.

I wouldn’t mind driving a White Star corvette from Babylon 5. And I would love to command a properly supplied Battlestar (with fully patched software and avionics) from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.

Hmm, lets see here…

from Farscape; a Nebari Host Vessel, a starship capable of turning a Peacekeeper Command Carrier (a ship itself capable of destroying planets) to slag, or maybe a Scarran Dreadnought

from BSG (Re-imagined) A MK II Viper, sure it’s not a massive starship like the Galactica, but it’s just a plain cool Space Superiority fighter

from Star Trek the U.S.S. Prometheus, Multi-Vector Assault Mode is just too cool…

The Tardis, of course. No contest.

To command: probably the Enterprise-D, with updated and safety-locked holodecks.

To fly: A White Star. I’m remembering a certain maneuver against some Shadow minions after Delenn commands “End this!”

The Falcon, of course. Which Falcon, you ask?

Command, I would go with the White Star. Small, but a fair amount of arse kicking ability. Second choice would be one of the space-borne sailing ships from Disney’s Treasure Planet (yes I know they are way across the suspension of belief line, but durn if they aren’t cool)

Pilot, the good old Incom T-65 X-wing. Definitely not the Falcon, I really wouldn’t want to try to drive something where the cockpit was tacked way on the side making sure that when maneuvering in tight spaces (as the Falcon always seems to have to) the most likely thing to get torn off the ship is the thing with me in it.

Well, if it comes with the crew, Sereni –

Damn. Of course. The Tardis.

To command, a Sovereign-class dreadnought: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.trekmania.net/the_fleet/utopia/fleet/1701e5.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.trekmania.net/the_fleet/utopia/fleet/sovereign.htm&h=480&w=640&sz=46&hl=en&start=9&tbnid=NtNfFRpFKTdZtM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsovereign%2Bclass%2Bstarship%26gbv%3D2%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG

To pilot, a smaller, more nimble Intrepid-class starship: http://www.drgnscl.com/images/intreppid.gif

I dig those bad boys.

Oh yes, although the question remains about how much control you would actually have over your destination.

“The Tardis doesn’t always take you to where/when you want to go, but to where/when you need to go” has always struck me as a splendid premise.

Oh, can I add a close second? The giant “Happy Face-Sphere” starship from “Heavy Metal”. You know, the one those two stoners crashed into the space station.

Actually, i change my vote to The Starship Heart of Gold from HHGTTG

Improbability Drive Roxxors!!!111!ONE!

CNV 301 Dreadnaught
Fry

Beat me to it.

Either that or the Serenity.

Why anyone would want to pilot or command the Serenity is beyond me. Parts keep falling off the gorram thing!

Yeah, but they’re the only ship with a job opening! :frowning:

The Yamato.

“Fire the Wave Motion Gun!”

I wonder if the new pilot would get the same perks as the last one? She may be the least attractive of the crew, male or female, but I’d still do her.

Nah. She’d probably kill me.

It’s not from a show, but from the EV Nova game. I’d love to have me a fully tricked out Starbridge .

B5 Universe, definitely a White Star.

ST Universe, I’d probably go with a Defiant.

Yeah, the big boys have lots of cool toys and firepower, but you’re in command, not in play. Too many people to manage, too much time doing executive level bullshit. You’re too far removed from the game.
