For comparison: Avengers: AOU has been out 8 weeks.
Domestic: $444,743,000 32.8%
- Foreign: $910,200,000 67.2%
= Worldwide: $1,354,943,000
For comparison: Avengers: AOU has been out 8 weeks.

Jurassic Park:
Domestic: $398,230,000 40.6%

I think I might have been wrong. Jurassic Park may beat out Avengers.
Of course it will… it’s only in its second week out. Not even a competition.
Yeah, I was way off in my prediction. I was 100% positive that AOU was going to be the big moneymaker, but even now Jurassic World has made over 50 million more.
I have to admit I was wrong. I never thought Jurassic World would do this well.
The happiest man in Hollywood right now must be Chris Pratt’s agent.
It never occurred to me either.
Terminator: Genisys early projections are abysmal.** Magic Mike XXL** is being projected as grossing more, even with a small fraction of Genisys budget.
So the question left is whether Episode VII will manage to dent Jurassic World’s record. If J J Abrams manages to produce something way better than Episodes I-III (not a particularly daunting task, if you ask me) I think it will happen.
I’ve been right 2 years in a row now with this question. What movie is Chris Pratt starring in next summer?
I would be smug but clearly my talent doesn’t extend to the Death Pool. :o
JW actually looks poised to take the #3 spot on highest grossing films of all time (behind Avatar and Titanic) if it makes another ~$135 M worldwide (currently at $1.383 B with less than 4 weeks in theaters, so it’s got at least a good 6+ weeks to go. I think it’ll make it).
Congratulations are due to Colin Trevorrow, the guy who directed JW, after having directed only a couple of other much smaller and less expensive films. Of course, something like this was certainly a group effort, and Steven Spielberg was involved. But it’s means that Colin Trevorrow is not going to have to worry about his calls getting answered for at least a decade. (Look at M. Night Shyamalan, who still is able to get films made even though he’s never quite repeated the success of The Sixth Sense.)
I don’t think it’s too early to call this year.
The winner, by far, was Jurassic World with a worldwide of 1.6 billion.
Second was Age of Ultron (my mistaken pic): 1.4 billion.
Third: Minions: 990 million
Forth: Inside Out: 690 million.
So yeah, next year I won’t be so sure of myself.
See y’all next summer!
