I swear, these things are getting earlier every time. I put "summer"in quotations because it’s obviously not summer (it friggin snowed in Boston today. That’s crap). But I decided to start this because I wanted to get Batman Vs Superman in the mix.
Here are the threads from previous years:
2015 2014 2013
I learned a valuable lesson last year: don’t be too sure. I would have put money that the Avengers was going to be the top. Well, it wasn’t. This year I’m not so sure.
Wow, first to vote and reply. Never done that before…
To me, it was a toss-up between Cap 3 and Secret Life of Pets. I ended up going with Pets because I think it will reach further with the kiddos than Cap will even though they are both aiming towards that demographic.
That’s up there, but Finding Dory is going to give it a run for its money, at least. You have a bit of nostalgia along with the fact that it’s a sequel to one of Pixar’s best.
I’ll go with Finding Dory. But even though I follow movies pretty closely, I’ve never heard of a couple of these. They’re remaking Ben-Hur again? And what the hell is Sausage Party or Popstar?
And it’s depressing how few are original films. Almost all are sequels, the latest in a franchise or a remake.
That’s the other half of the prediction game; which of these movies, particularly the big-budget comic-book adaptions, is going to flop? I think last year Warner Bros had a long string of flops.
I might have answered “Secret Lives of Pets” after seeing the first trailer.
It looked unique, different and really funny.
Unfortunately as more info and trailers are being released it’s looking like every “enemies at first then become friends” animated film that have become before.
The reviews for Bat v Supes are coming back very mediocre.
I don’t think this will have an affect on the opening weekend. People who’ve been waiting for this movie will see it no matter what’s being said. It may affect the tail, though.
