Which TV character has the most annoying family?

7th Heaven
Malcolm in the Middle-- the mother, especially

I cam in to say this, but the Costanzas are a close second. IMO, the Bluths win because there are more of them and many of them were frequently engaged in shady and/or illegal activity.

I think we need a distinction between “evil” family characters that primarily drive the storylines (i.e. Arrested Development, Malcolm in the Middle) and “distracting” family characters that are occasional nuisances and diversions from the storylines (i.e. whenever a family member of a Law & Order character shows up - the series wasn’t about the personal lives of the characters at all; those details were at best distracting).

The Sopranos was the first show I thought of. Tony’s entire family is just terrible. His mother, his sister, his wife, his kids…all incredibly annoying.

I would argue that Jerry’s family is more annoying than George’s. For some reason I find the Costanzas’ bickering to be oddly entertaining, but Jerry’s dad, Uncle Leo, Nana… boy do they make me stabby. (His mom is mostly OK though.)

Peter Griffin.

Hey, Elaine’s dad is no bundle of joy, either.

This gets my vote. Wierd Al Yankovic had this show pegged exactly when he referred to it “Everybody Tolerates Raymond” in one of his songs.

I gotta go with Archie and the Bunkers.

Edith was a dingbat, Gloria was irritating, Meathead was a whiny bitch, etc. No wonder Archie was so bitter and started spending all his time at the bar he bought for his spin-off.

7th Heaven is a close 2nd.

Nobody has mentioned anyone from The Big Bang Theory yet?

Beverly Hoffsteder, Mrs. Fowler and Debbie Wolowitz all deserve this honor.

If you guys want “most annoying family” watch a show called “The Royals”.

I can’t even begin to describe how annoying every single character (except one) is. Their affected rich-snob accents make it even worse.

Married with children. Now THAT was one messed up family

Aren’t they supposed to be? I mean they can still annoy you, but isn’t this show meant to be a comedy?

Not just you. They were the first family to pop into my head. Not a single one of them was likeable (the kids were okay, but they didn’t say much).

I’m about to throw over the new Walking Dead series simply because I can’t stand Kim Dicken’s kids. If they’d just go ahead and eat them, that show might be tolerable.

Sue Heck.

Got it in one. Worst TV show ever.

Well, a few threads over, people are whaling on Travis-and-Maddie’s blended family from Fear The Walking Dead.

Yes. Also The Brady Bunch.

ETA: The King of Queens and all shows like it with a big goofy dude, a slim, nasal-voiced woman, and their “wacky” family.

ETA: Damn. Ninja’d at post 35.

I find- actually have been finding for about 20 years now, so nothing to do with the Cosby scandal- that I hate the Huxtables. Oddly enough, Mr. Cosby as Dr. Huxtable (which is essentially just Cosby being Cosby)is still likeable but any time I’ve tried to watch it in the last couple of decades I’ve found it insufferable.

I find the same thing with the Cunninghams and Happy Days, It’s seriously unwatchable.
