Which voter group is going to most largely determine the outcome of this election?

You in Michigan?

White women. They appear, according to a report on the BBC News this morning, to have switched wholesale to McCain 53% to 41% from a 15 point preference for Obama.

So - Game Over really.

I turned on the TV this morning, and what did I stumble across on the local (NECN) cable news program? A look at Palin’s inquiry about removing books from the Wasilla library and the subsequent firing of the librarian, including a look at the extreme (okay, to me anyway) views of the Pentecostal church she then attended, with a clip of its pastor preaching homophobia. NECN is an affiliate of ABC News and this story was one of their feeds.

Here’s the online written version. The video is there to watch. The lead-in from Brian Ross: “As the mayor of the town of Wasilla, Sarah Palin raised questions about removing books in the public library, and then tried to fire the town librarian. She says the two were not connected.” Yep, Brian Ross put a skeptical emphasis on “she”. Watch the whole story; the video is harder-hitting than the written version, IMO. Among the things I learned was that the librarian was at that time the president of the Alaska Library Association, which I suspect undercuts any argument by the Palin side that she was fired for incompetence.

Looks like the ink-stained wretches are beginning to take a look under the surface of the latest shiny object.
