Posting this due to an interesting family discussion recently. I tend to face toward the showerhead except to rinse my back, two others in my family (both females) tend to face away except to rinse their front. I had never even considered facing away, it seems odd to me. What sayeth y’all?
How can you face toward the whole time? Even if your face is not in the direct stream you will be getting a certain amount of residual spray in your eyes.
Depends upon what I’m washing or rinsing. Then again, I don’t get in the shower merely to stand under running water. I get clean then get out because I’ve got important things to do!
Facing away mainly. I like the spray on my neck and back a lot more than on my face and chest. Also the soap and shampoo are on the opposite wall to the shower head, so it’s natural to grab them, stand with my butt in the spray while shampooing or soaping up, and only face the other way when needed.
That said I haven’t actually time it, so who knows how far the real break down really is from 50/50. I often get distracted and stand all the way in the spray for “ages” while contemplating the mysteries of human nature.
I get cold when my back isn’t actively under a stream of warm water. Plus, I’ve got long hair that takes a long time to wash, and it hangs down my back. So away, unless I’m in the middle of rising off a frontal area.
I tend to face the showerhead, but stand back far enough from it that it’s not spraying my head or face, but instead is spraying my chest and torso. I step forward to wash my face and hair, spin (or step forward and duck my head) to dampen my back, and return to the default position when I’m doing neither of the above.
I’m flip to each side, front, back, left, right, every few seconds. Of course, being in a droughtful area, most of my time in the shower is with the water turned off.
In addition to my answer above, I have to add that it depends on the height of the shower head. If it is higher than my face, then I face away more. If it is lower than my face, I spend more time facing it.
You see, you think you’re being so progressive with this male-female-nonbinary thing. But you didn’t check your privilege in assuming that eveyone has an angled shower head. What about those of us with a rainfall showerhead that’s directly overhead?
As others have stated - I get wet, then step back to soap up, step forward to rinse, etc. For my back I either spin around long enough to wet/rinse or simply bend over.
OK, amend to “face toward/away from the showerhead, faucets or drain”. If your shower only has an overhead water source and the drain is in the center of the floor, well, we don’t serve your kind here.
