I am happy to report, over 2 weeks after the deadline, that my elephant has finally left my house, and is on his way to Kansas. He left yesterday, so should be arriving by Monday at the latest.
I am sincerely sorry to everyone for being one of those that gave you trouble, alice.
For the record, I also never received a package, but at this point if it’s not to late, I would like to NOT be reassigned. I would feel bad for putting someone out after I screwed up my end of the bargain so badly.
I ended up with a second elephant, somehow. It contained:
[ul]
[li]a kung-fu panda (I love it when he says “Ska-doosh!”)[/li][li]a shadow box, which my daughter promptly claimed[/li][li]a very pretty wooden bowl[/li][li]a gorgeous square dish that now holds candles and sits on the dining room table[/li][li]stand for a picture frame[/li][li]parts for a food processor(?)[/li][li]Russian nesting dolls[/li][li]an Avon ceramic holder[/li][li]a pretty little glass fish[/li][li]various lids[/li][li]plastic envelopes[/li][li]bookmarks[/li][li]and dadumdedum HOLY WATER!! Zebra, I think I have a fighting chance now.[/li][/ul]
Once again, I’m sure I left out a thing or three, since I mostly post from work and the box is at home. Thank you muchly, rockingchair!!! It was super-cool and very unexpected.
I’m about to pass on the favor and send one to jayjay…he and I were going to exchange back when neither of us had received one, but I would feel guilty getting three and only sending two. Alice, pm me if you need any more sent out. I’d be happy to help out.
Well, if one shows up, one shows up. No skin off my sack. I just feel bad…
I have decided what I will do is over the course of the next year, I will have a box in my room by my bed, for white elephant shit, and if it’s full next year, I will sign up. Assuming someone runs it, after the awful and horrible treatment alice_in_wonderland has gotten.
Last year I sent mine out right away. I’ll do better in the future.
alice, if there’s anything I can do to help, just ask.
She certainly did send it out. Matter of fact- TWO boxes full of Elephants and little elephant-like stuff!

This was my first time to participate and it was a joy!
Next time( if it happens) , I will be ready again.
I’m tracking the last of my elephants now, and it should be in Indianapolis by Monday. I hope. I am also a little afraid that someones kid will be tickled, but that a parent will probably curse my name.
So perhaps this person in Indianapolis should open the box when the kids are outside?
My elephant came yesterday! Yay! Thanks Tristan! My husband, girlfriend and I got a kick out of it. There was:
Two book set of Shogun - which I have been wanting to read again
Clan Tartans of Scotland - which my husband promptly ran off with
A map of Europe - also in my husbands possession
A video tape of Spawn Pt. 3 animated movie
A DVD of The Bellflower Bunnies - which I will show to my various step-step-grandkids and great-nieces when they get a little older
A Compaq operating system disk - never know when that may come in handy
2 Lincoln-Kennedy conspiracy theory commemorative pennies :dubious:
A tin of Altoids - okay, okay, I’ll go brush my teeth.
A bunch of cards for the Mythos game
Pirate themed gift/candy bags - which I will use to give stuff to my friend who hates the pirate fad
A rifle scope - now I need a rifle
A UBS game controller for an unknown game system - Will it work as a regular mouse?
A pewter elk-head shot glass - Very cool and will go in our basement bar.
A million yards of plastic lanyard
Stick on glass stones
A coaxial cable splitter connector :dubious:
A telephone cable splitter connector :dubious:
A really neat-o candle making kit - that I will absolutely use
and my favorite thing - a straight razor That made me laugh my ass off.
The USB connector thingy and the lanyard thingy are recycled from the elyphant I got last year. As near as I can tell, it the USB thing is a variation on a trackball mouse. Knock yourself out!
Warning: I can’t vouch for the sharpness or how well the straight will hold an edge. It came “free” when I purchased what turned out to be a VERY poor grade of strop when I was getting in to straightrazor shaving. Still, if nothing else I figured it would make for a good conversation piece!
I’m glad it was well received, and the fact that the stuff was well received restores my faith in the system. Yay!
ps- I got a whole stack of those dang kennedy-lincoln coin thingys a while back. I expect to be giving them to elephant folk for a while. Tristan != conspiracy theorist.
If you sent that off to me, then it came today and you’ve just made one little black cat extremely happy! Before I even had the box fully opened his head was in there and he pulled out the hair bands. We have this game – he brings me an elastic hair band (where he finds them, I’ll never know because my hair is short) and I shoot them across the room for him to fetch. This goes on for a half hour several times a day.
We’re going to play with the bubbles next. Cool stuff, thank you!
Uh oh, the superball and the spongy globe thingy are a big hit with the other cat! Looks like I’m not going to be getting much sleep before I go to work tonight.
A bag of Halloween candy (left over from THIS year, I assume)
A bag of Rubik’s Cube (the do-it-yourself version ;))
Four VHS tapes: A Powerpuff Girls episode, a Buffy episode and an Angel episode, and 2 exercise videos (The Firm)
Fishing line (a whole reel!)
A Seattle mug
A teeth-chattering Scooby-Doo
Two BIG pencils
A whisk
A pad of colored PostIts
A plastic Halloween bendy straw
A frankincense-scented candle
A deck of Spongebob themed playing cards (shaped like Spongebob!) in an adorable little tin
A teeny-tiny keychain flashlight
A big bag of cotton balls
A nice big Obama/Biden magnet
The weird looking white plastic things are designed for cooking eggs in the microwave. The semi-circle one does omlets and the other one does two eggs, one in each compartment. Courtesy of an ex-roommate who left them when he moved. I think those were the only non-recognizable things in there, but if anything else needs an explanation, let me know!!
