I don’t know for certain who did this. I just know, when I came home yesterday, two of my neighbors had been murdered. The assumption is that this was done by white supremacy scumbags.
When I say my neighbors, what I mean is less than one block away.
People I only knew as Joan and Mike. When out on walks, they would always stop and compliment me on what a nice job we were doing with the plants, how nicely things were improved.
Yesterday I walk up our street shortly after 6pm to find people in the street, police cars spilling into the area from every direction. I see commotion at the house down the street from me.
So, what I ask is this: WHAT PATHETIC CREATURE ARE YOU TO KILL AN INVAILID MAN AND A 89 YEAR OLD WOMAN? HOW SMALL IS YOUR DICK TO THINK THIS COULD ADVANCE YOU PATHETIC AGENDA?

What pathetic thing happened to you to make you think this is a right way to behave? You dare call yourself a church? You dare claim the idea of Christ, much less his name?

This crime has horrified me, and I’m quite far away from it. So sorry, they seem to have been great folks. It’s like a snake you thought was dying rearing up. That poor, poor judge.
If Hale is indeed responsible for this, he’s delusional to think this will intimidate the judge he’s soon to appear before for sentencing.
I have no problem with a death penalty administered for the purpose of being a future deterrent in cases where multiple premeditated murders were comitted. In my own little criminal justice system Hale may soon prove to be a candidate.

Today the talk is that the caller ID at their house showed several calls on Sunday evening from the Metropolitan Correctional Facility downtown. This is where dickwad Matt Hale is being held. He is supposedly cut off from everyone with only 2 monitored visits per month from his parents. So, what happened here? Why was someone calling the Lefkows house from there? The possible things this implies sicken me.
I don’t recall feeling this much anger about something in a long time.
I was in college with Hale. Was in a class with him. He did things that made me want to punch him in the face. Hard. Repeatedly. Somehow I suspect now that I should have.
There’s a lot of prisoners held at the MCC, and you have judge and a lawyer living in that house. The call would have also been collect if it were from an inmate. I highly doubt Hale called the Lefkows, although we’ll see how it pans out.
I work at the [personal info deleted - EZ] Building, where Lefkow’s kept office. It’s been very sombre here the past couple of days, and I am very saddened about the news, even though I did not know Joan or Michael personally. They both have reputations as being kind, sweet, and fair people. Joan is held in high regard by all the laywers in this building.
There was a report on the news last night (which I haven’t heard since) indicating that the day of the murders was the anniversary of Waco or Ruby Ridge, and that the FBI had sent out a warning that white supremacists might be planning “something big.” Do we not change the threat warning for domestic terrorists?
On another note, I heard the Tribune reporter interviewed this morning, and he said he strongly doubts Hale made the supposed phone calls from MCC. He is watched closely and there is no way any inmate could make a call from MCC without the authorities knowing all about it.
Also, apparently the tip about two men in a car watching the house beforehand has been discounted by the police, because the eyewitness story kept changing. The description of them being skinheads (or having “military haircuts”) was a late addition to the story.
Intimidation of federal judges is a federal, death-penalty eligible offense. So regardless of the state charges and Illinois’ death penalty, whoever did this will hopefully pay the ultimate price.
I was absolutely horrified. She routinely hired people from my law school as externs and I have classmates who worked for her. I was very sad and disheartened to hear about this and hope they catch the assholes who did it.
To the OP: howdy, neighbor - you apparently live a few blocks from me. I’m just as disgusted. If there’s any kind of vigil, etc. going to be held for Judge Lefkow, please post here.
Apparently my mom used to work with Joan Lefkow; she used to be the head of Cook County Legal Assistance Foundation, a nonprofit that provides basic legal services to poor people. Mom worked there throughout my middle school and high school years, helping people get government benefits (like SSI Disability, food stamps, etc.) that they were entitled to.
The Legal Assistance attorneys I’ve known (and Mom has been friends with quite a number over the years) have been, without exception, exemplary human beings; why else would anyone forsake the (potentially lucrative) private practice of law to earn a pittance helping people? I never knew the Lefkows, but their faces look familiar; I must have seen them on the street, and by all accounts Mr. Lefkow was an exemplary human being as well. It just makes me sadder that someone would do something so evil to a person like that.
There was a vigil last night (Tuesday) at the North Shore Baptist Church at Berwyn and Lakewood. This is the church you keep seeing on the news that is down the block from the Lefkow’s house.
Michael Lefkow’s funeral will be at 11am this Saturday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Evanston, Illinois.
Two composite sketch’s have been released based on the descriptions given about the two men seen in a red car in front of the neighborhood church mentioned above. Here they are. I’ve been staring at them now for about 20 minutes and don’t recognize them as anyone I saw around the neighborhood that day.
What the hell is wrong with these people? Then again, I have to reserve judgement somewhat until we have more details on the killers. Not that I don’t think Hale and his fucktards are incapable, but judges handle a LOT of different cases, and you never know whether just because there’s a big media story or even threats from a particular case, that that’s the one that was really related. Then again, all the evidence says that its probably a safe conclusion. If they find Hale guilty of organizing the attack somehow, this is one of the very few instances I would be in favor of the death penalty: an ongoing, unstoppable threat to society, no different than a state of war.
