All summer, and now even sometimes, I see sooo many young dudes wearing white t shirts.
All white,no slogans. Its like its some sort of style amongst young dudes.
Curious, but hesitant to ask a dude in real life.
Ask them what, exactly? “Why are you wearing a white t-shirt”?
No, why do so many young guys wear them?
Unless there was this HUGE sale.
I can’t speak for all those dudes, but I look damn good in a plain white T-shirt, have for years.
Those damned emo kids ruined my look though. “Look at me, I’m too cool to even have a retro logo on my T-shirt.”
Whatever dude, do some pushups.
I wear plain white tees on occasion. It’s bloody hard to find a decent tee that isn’t a mobile billboard.
I’ve only got one, and it’s more slightly off-white than white.
They are cheap to boot.
I’m sure it’s out of some calculated desire to look casual and a mistaken belief that it shows off their body especially well - even if it’s a terrible look.
Are you sure they’re just not walking around in their underwear?
I’m 22 (not sure if that qualifies me as “young dude”) I wear white t-shirts all the time. Every six months or so I go buy another 6-pack and throw away the ratty ones (or keep a few to do yard work/painting in). They’re t-shirts. That’s what they’re for.
I don’t think I understand the question.
My husband used to wear plain white t-shirts all the time (at 44 years old, he’s hardly a “young dude”). He didn’t do it to look hip or to show off his muscles or anything. He did it cuz it’s easy, it’s cheap, and he’s fashion impaired and white matches everything. Finally, I convinced him that with just the white t-shirt, he looks like he got completely dressed, except that he forgot to put on his “real” shirt. Now, he still wears plain t-shirts pretty frequently, but he wears the colored ones with a pocket.
The youth around here - white and black - wear massively large white t-shirts that will sometimes go all the way down to their knees. Got to admit I’m puzzled by the trend.
Of course, I’m a fuddy-duddy and think they look silly, but I’m not the one that’s walking around like that.
Perhaps they do it to conceal their chests.
That’s what they say about linux PCs too…
Ah, so its not just me!
Maybe its a group thing.
They really are cheap.
When you buy them a little tight, it shows off your features, even if you have none.
They are soft.
I swear the youth of today don’t even know who James Dean is.
Oh… and it wasn’t “Your Style” ** Chairman Pow**". It was your grandpas.
When I was a kid in school, (say, mid-late '70s) lots of us wore plain white T-shirts. May have been the “Fonzie” influence.
In Philadelphia, this look is/was so popular with the young males you’d swear it was a uniform. Now it is colder out, so most kids have jackets over their tees
When you see school get out, at least 90% of the young males will have a size XXXL blank white T-Shirt on over their other clothes.
We started calling them “beefy tees” last summer after seeing so many kids wearing them. Someone else told me it is called “PFD” for “profile fits the description”. Th erationale given was if everyone in the whole neighborhood looks exactly the same, cops and witnesses will be less able to pick out criminals.
Will have to admit that Im one dudes that wears a white t-shirt all the time. Not XXXL or anything but mediums that hug nicely. They are very cheap. They dont show sweat in the summer. They feel great. Go to target and you get them for a buck and some change a piece in a 3 pack. Although im not “young” as the OP implied. 26. I noticed I get alot more looks from women (or thats what I keep telling myself anyways).
I am also a white tee wearin young dude for all the given reasons: cheap, soft, tight, and so goddamn cool looking.
hmm I wear them b/c they’re cheap. And cheap. I’m a chunky 'un, so I actually do wear XXXL, but an XL would suffice. I just can’t stand tight shirts.
