Whitney 3/14

I know this show gets a lot of hate but I won’t lie, it makes me laugh.

I dunno if anyone else is still watching it regularly but if you are, I’m curious. What did you think of Neal and Lily’s breakup and Neal’s subsequent realization that he’s bi?

Because I thought it was done terribly.

Really? I thought it was great. What didn’t you like about it? I thought it made perfect sense that someone in a conservative household might not understand (or might not want to understand) that they’re gay, and there’s certainly plenty of folks who didn’t figure it out until later in life.

I thought that their breakup was unmotivated and they spent several episodes really focusing on Lily’s hurt. It seemed to me that they needed a device to make Neal seem less like an asshole so they gave him a new characterization to explain the sudden split. I don’t think it really meshes with previous episodes.

Well the show has gotten a little better. But I didn’t think this was very congruous either. I really don’t like the friends on the show (the actors and their performances, not necessarily the concept).

I was just starting to like the show; now I feel like they’ve already run out of ideas. That’s a pretty huge direction change in the cast of the show; things like that are usually reserved for the moment a show jumps the shark.

Whitney has jumped the shark so soon - too bad. The show has gone from being funny to trying, poorly I thought, to tackle a serious issue. I already find the friendship of this group to be unrealistic but I accept it because it’s a sitcom. Now it is unreal and unfunny.

I never noticed before, but when you hover over the title in the list of threads you get the start of the post with the spoiler’s revealed.

Oh, fuck. I always make fun of dipshits who don’t leave enough space to hide the spoiler in my head.

I have tasted my own medicine and found it bitter!

No problem… the rest of us learn things from fuck-ups like yours  !
