So you’re glad she’s dead?
No, I’m not glad she’s dead at all. I just never liked her music. To me, the amount of attention that her death has generated is just because she’s famous, not because she made great music. She’s the definition of “commercial” artist. Lots of insanely talented musicians die and there’s almost no attention paid at all.
What is the purpose of this post? Honestly?
I don’t know. What is the purpose of these threads? Is it strictly to lay praise upon the deceased? Or are we allowed to share our opinion?
Apparently millions of people googling Whitney Houston death also made it come onto Google news for a second, for while I didn’t screencap it was, so help me, there for a second a few moments ago.
I never liked Grandma that much…she was kind of a bitch…that’s all. Ummm, I don’t really have anything else to say so I’ll see everyone at the cemetery then.
Oddly enough, I was watching the Behind the Music remastered with Rick James a few hours ago, how he sobered up, had a stroke, then hit the crack pipe again and died soon after. Doesn’t seem a million miles away from Whitney’s situation.
Not to make an analogy with the Winehouse situation, but the tragedy beyond the family and friends she leaves behind, but it’s the wasted talent. Whitney hadn’t done anything of note since the early 90s, right? I always hoped she would find a Quincy-Jones-like producer to work with her.
People are starting to say that Bobby Brown put her on this road, but my understanding is that she was well immersed in the drugs before he came along.
So you’re jealous on behalf of the more talented dead musicians? Because answering “Whitney’s dead” with “I never liked her” is . . . not nice.
You’re right. I officially apologize.
A rats ass.
I have out lived her with no priviledge.
Sew what you rape and all that.
If this guy’s Raggedy Ann could talk we’d all run in horror at the reason for those patches.
She’s the most awarded female artist of all time and influenced just about every female pop singer working today. Her music may not be your cup of tea, but to say that she didn’t have any talent or that her death isn’t attention-worthy strikes me as a bit silly.
:stands up and salutes:
Probably could not be considered “of note,” but I saw a new music video from her … what? Maybe a year ago? And wondered if she was trying for a comeback. Then she disappeared again.
I cracked a joke in a dead celeb thread once and a board administrator said he wished he could have banned me for it. So, I think the general consensus is suck up or stay out.
Like others, I think that Bobby Brown set her on the course of self destruction.
Haha-- ugh!

Plus she was an adult when they married so any choices were ultimately her own, and they split years ago. I have no love (or any particular hate) for Brown, but if it was drugs, it was ultimately her own doing.
She had talent, I don’t contest that.
Current location of death (per wikipedia) is Beverly Hills, CA.
This is getting fascinating. Dead but unconfirmed, denial- oops, that’s another time she was reported dead, okay, she is dead, in Ottawa… or Beverly Hills…
Since her privacy is certainly not going to be an issue (any more than any other superstar) you’d think they’d just say “she was pronounced dead in ____” for now. Unless it’s the unlikely event of something like a car crash or it was revealed she’d been secretly battling cancer or some other terminal illness I’m sure the official cause of death won’t be ready for several days (autopsy and toxicology reports and all that) but you’d think they’d at least have released ‘natural’ or ‘no foul play suspected’.
