It is supposed to be an old rumour, but is was news to me.
Here is the storyas told by her assistant, long time friend and alledged lover, Robyn Crawford. Crawford never says she and Whitney were lovers, but the interview, to me shows deep love.
Not that her private life is any of my business. Still, even if she and Robyn just were really good friends, it is good to know they were happy together for a considerable time.

Cicero, that is not entirely true. The rumour is very old, dating from the 90’s and both Whitney and Robyn have denied it, see the links for quotes. In the linked euology, which was very low-key (ie not sold to anyone for a profit) Robyn denies it. But in an ambiguous way.
I don’t think it matters at all.
Girl friends tend to be closer than guy friends. Maybe stuff happened a few times. Does that mean we have to throw labels around? Does it mean we should change the theme of the “personal life” entry in her Wikipedia so people from the future can make quick judgements by listening to the climax of “I Will Always Love You” and then reading that she liked girls too?
I just don’t get the appeal. I feel like once people have accepted that gay people are normal, they stop speculating about stuff like this as much.
