Who are our current "Abe Vigodas"? (people you might be surprised to learn are still alive)

Very cool. My professor was Leslie Woodcock-Tentler, but she only used Tentler in day to day use.

She was great.

It’s gotta be those now ancient former glamor boys, Robert Redford and Warren Beatty.

Two women in or near the same range: Jane Fonda and Faye Dunaway.

Not that I’m wishing bad luck or anything on the aforementioned, but they’re up in or close to Abe Vigodaland.

Speaking of Warren Beatty, something interesting could happen in a few months. See, in 1978’s Heaven Can Wait, Beatty’s character, Joe Pendleton, is sent to heaven by an overeager angel, decades before he was actually supposed to die. The official date he was supposed to die, as announced in the movie, is now just a few short months away - March 20, 2025.

If, uh, anything happens to Warren on that date, it will be the ultimate cosmic coincidence of all time!

Illustrator Hilary Knight, best known for the “Eloise” books, turned 98 in November.

With the death of Linda Lavin, I thought I’d see who else from Alice was still alive. I was surprised to see that Polly Holiday (‘Flo’) is still alive at 87. She’s about three months younger than Linda Lavin was.

I was surprised to learn that Phillip McKeon died in 2019 at the age of 55.

As is Diane Ladd (89), who had played Flo in the movie, and who replaced Holliday on the show when they spun Flo off into her own series (though Ladd played a different waitress).

Grits are obviously a health food.

Right up there with Muammar Gaddafi and Second Chance.

Ruth Buzzi has been mentioned several times but not her Laugh In costar Jo Anne Worley. She’s 87 years young. Did a voice thing in 2023. Wonder if it had a chicken joke.

Worley is slightly younger than Buzzi but Buzzi has no recent IMDb credits. The next oldest Laugh In regular surviving seems to be Lily Tomlin who is very active.

Two times Mrs. Dick Martin and Playboy Playmate Dolly Read is still going at 80.

Sam Moore has now passed away at 89.

Hall-of-Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax is still alive at 89. Always uncomfortable with his celebrity, he has very rarely appeared in public since his brief broadcasting career ended in 1973.

Lazy Sunday afternoon yesterday. I was flipping channels and landed on a Happy Days episode from season 1 on one of those retro channels (I knew it was season 1 instantly, since the Fonz was wearing a baby blue windbreaker). There was a scene with the Cunningham parents, Joanie, and a guest actress, and I said to my wife “at least 3 of those people are dead”. But then I looked up Marion Ross, and yep, a year after Sccobysnax’s post, she is still alive at 96.

Also, her better-known sister Christine (St Elsewhere) will be entering her tenth decade early next month.

Marina Oswald (former wife of Lee Harvey Oswald) is still with us, age 83

And Ruth Paine is 92. Her ex-husband Michael died suspiciously young at the age of 89. Both were living in the same Quaker care facility and were quite friendly for exes.

Clearly the cleanup crew for the Kennedy assassination plotters are taking their sweet time.

Boris Spassky is only 87

He is now JUST a bit outside of living.

Actress Kim Novak will have her 92nd birthday on February 13.

Grace Slick is 85

Edwin Meese, who served as Attorney General during the Reagan Administration, is 93.
