Who are our current "Abe Vigodas"? (people you might be surprised to learn are still alive)

His place on the list of people I would be surprised to learn are still alive grows more justified with each passing day.

This put me in mind of the guy who was allegedly the subject of her most famous song (“Senator Jay Billington Bulworth”) is 89 – and his well-known sister (“Irma La Douce”) is 3 years older than him.

Rachel Robinson, widow to the late, great baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson, turns 104 today!

Author Lois Lowry (The Giver, Number the Stars) is still with us at 89.

I was drafting a post in another forum that was going to reference an episode of Family Guy (specifically, the episode titled “Quagmire’s Baby,” where Peter believes that a ham radio he’s purchased allows him to speak with the ghost of Ronald Reagan , only to find out he’s talking to impressionist Rich Little, with Little providing his own voice), which led me to look up Rich Little.

He’s still with us, and will turn 88 in November.

Bunty Bailey, whose only famous appearance was as the girl in the 1985 a-ha video “Take On Me”, is still alive at 62.

Um. Are you really shocked that she’s still alive at 62? Unless she’s sick or something, that seems pretty young.

No, I’m surprised that someone whose only famous appearance was 41 years ago is still alive.

Ann-Margret still alive at 85.

Ubiquitous Asian actor James Hong is still with us at 97 years of age.

James Hong may never die. That guy was already old when he was young!

Which makes him Vigoda’s one true successor.

So long as the supply of green-eyed women holds up.

I just learned in another thread, George Will is still alive! I assumed he was ancient when I was a kid, but I guess just his ideas and his fashion sense were.

The truly unexpected thing is not so much that he is alive at 85, but that he hasn’t retired.

Say what you will about Will, but he wrote a great baseball book.

Impressionist seems to be a genre of comedy that is not nearly as popular as it once was.

The last big name I can recall in that field was Frank Caliendo.

For some reason, I thought that Rich Little did the voice of Richard Nixon on the series Futurama. Little did appear in the series but he played himself. Billy West voiced Nixon.

Pop trivia quiz: Without looking it up, can you name the four living cast members from The Godfather? (Hint: Abe Vigoda is not a correct answer.)

Al Pacino, Talia Shire, Gianni Russo, and John Martino
