Who are the Deep Cover Liberals on this board?

I would have put this in IMHO with a poll, but I figured it probably better belongs in the pit since we’re making accusations about other posters.

For those who are curious, a Deep Cover Liberal is a hypothetical person who espouses extremely right-wing vitriol, not out of sincerity, but in an effort to discredit conservatives by making them seem insane.

There haven’t been many Deep Cover Liberals ever verified, however there was one infamous poster on Conservapedia, who after years of being in their highest ranks, finally came out and said he was just a big parody of conservatives and they were all morons for taking him seriously for so long.

In real life, there probably aren’t any real DCLs. One would like to hope that people like Ann Coulter and Fred Phelps are actually deep cover liberals, but the sad truth is that they are probably sincere in their beliefs (or not sincere, but they espouse them anyway for popularity, notoriety, or fame, not out of furthering the liberal cause).

But on a message board, I think there is a much higher chance there can be actual deep cover liberals, mostly because of the anonymity and the trolling-pleasure people get from riling up others. I believe there’s a good chance some of the insanely conservative and provocative posters here actually DCLs.

**clothahump **is certainly one. I’m leaning towards believing that OMG A Black Conservative is as well, though it’s not as clear a case as clothahump.

I fear you overestimate certain conservatives. Social conservatism melded with the anonymity of the internet make that a not too surprising post.

How do you tell the difference between a DCL and somebody who is honestly batshit insane? Because moonshot is definitely the latter.

eta: And my mother is hardly a DCL, yet she sounds a lot like him sometimes.

Also, I take those little political tests to rank how extreme you are on various things, and I’m always consistently center-left. I’m a left-leaning moderate, that’s how I see myself, and that’s how I score on various political compass tests. So, objectively (or as objective as it gets with political opinions), I’m no extremist.

Is that so? Take any “consensus” on this board and match it up against the American electorate. You’ll quickly find that, on most issues, the public is to the right of where this board is. As far as this board is concerned, the only people not extreme are those on the left. Any conservative or libertarian is rabidly attacked as being extremist based on the underlying views of this board, even if the conservative or libertarian more closely resembles the electorate from which they hail than does the liberal. So as I said, extremists never consider themselves to be extreme.

OMG, you do realize that not everyone on this board is an American, and that the American electorate does not represent the demographics of the rest of the world, right?

I agree that this board is way more liberal than the American Electorate in general. But I am not an extremist. Since you are claiming that extremists can never consider themselves to be extreme, I offered up some modicum of evidence in the form of political quizzes that point to me as being center-left.

I will also go ahead and let you know that in 2004 I split my votes evenly between republicans and democrats, and in 2010 voted for at least one republican (my US congressman).

So, believe what you will about me, but I’m not an extremist…
