Who are the Deep Cover Liberals on this board?

True, Americans are to the right of this board. Big deal.

Americans are also pretty far to the left of where you are, so enough with the sanctimonious implications that posters here are somehow less than American.

What, nobody is going to cop to being a radical leftist?

OK, then I will. OMG, I am your worst nightmare. I’m a card-carrying queer-loving, minority-embracing, cut the Defense budget to the bone, Socialist lefty-pinko with passion, education, and I teach your children.
Ooga-booga!

Only insomuch as it’s useful in pointing out who the real extremists are. Or do you not know how extremism is defined?

(No, it’s not defined as people who hold a position you disagree with.)

You think? I would have figured it was deathly apparent that my comment was directed to the American posters, given I also said “the American electorate” and “the electorate from which they hail”.

That’s not really evidence since:

1.) Political quizzes are usually never all that accurate and generally boil down to you having to chose the best of two options which don’t accurately reflect your beliefs.

2.) The “center” of American politics is center-right, not left.

The blatantly obvious straw man aside (because, really, you had to try VERY hard to come up with the “somehow less than American” implication), I’m actually quite moderate in my stance. But, of course, that’s kind of hard to figure out by this board.

I actually wouldn’t put either Clothahump or OMG at the top of my list. OMG is simple dime-a-dozen conservative apologist with views that are pretty boiler plate, and Clothhump is the same but also has Dunning-Kruger affect working against him. To hit the real DCL’s you need to highlight people who even the standard board conservatives wish wouldn’t be there. I would nominate Susanann, curlcoat, and after his appearance in the Sandusky thread, Starving Artist. You may also have a point with moonshot.

That said, on the left we have Der Trihs, and ZPG zealot.

God bless the infallible wisdom of the American public, which ensures that McDonald’s wins a landslide victory in every “Best Local Burger” survey.

Buck,

Maybe you have a point. But OMG and Clothahump are surely in a league above people like Bricker or Rand Rover, or even Shodan (to me).

I can buy this- there are several issues that you seem to be conspicuously absent from (I suspect you ignore the threads when you agree with most of the posters). So you only show yourself when it happens to be on an issue you’re on the right for, like abortion, in which you seem to be for banning it in all cases (you may allow an exception to save the life of the mother- I don’t recall if you mentioned that).

So if it’s “kind of hard to figure out on this board”, it’s actually your own fault.

Which clearly underlines the hypocricy in your calling us all extremists.

I take issue with any suggestion that a deeper level of thought lurks behind OMG’s posts.

That’s the mark of a truly great DCL though.

Think to yourself, what if OMG came out one day and said to all his “fellow” conservative posters here on the board, “You fucking fools! I’ve been parodying you this entire time. I mean, look at my god damn user name for fuck’s sake. You all are insane. Good bye.”

Would you be that surprised?

See, if someone like Bricker came out and said something like that… I’d scratch my head and wonder what the hell he was doing and thinking. But OMG or Clothahump? Not so much.

I honestly don’t think any of the right wingers are actually lefties trying to be preposterous. However, I have long suspected that Rush Limbaugh is actually a liberal trying to be so outrageously conservative as to offend moderates and push them into the Democratic fold. I sometimes picture him kissing photos of Ted Kennedy and Jane Fonda, putting them back on his nightstand, and falling asleep, hoping to have a dream about single-payer heath insurance.

I am just curious, when discussing average Americans are we talking about the median American opinion, the mean American opinion or the modal American Opinion? Also how Standard deviations away does one have to be to be an “extremist”?

Shut up, nerd! <atomic wedgie>

Holy Mother of God, you have just made my day. Many years ago I spent some time poking around on the Conservapedia site and there was one poster in particular who really stood out as completely batshit insane in the spouting of extremist right-wing rhetoric. I’m talking “Obama is a sleeper Muslim agent who will reveal hiimself after the election” crazy. So crazy that I remember the name years later.

And that’s the guy!!! Oh man, that’s brilliant. Andy Kaufman would have been green with envy. Well, envy and decomposition, anyway.

I think he’s just a shrewd entertainer that doesn’t give a shit what he says as long as the money keeps rolling in, and taking the foaming-at-the-mouth conservative position seems to be what does that the best. I’d put Ann Coulter in that category, too.

Sez who?

That doesn’t sound any different than actual conservatives.

Yes, frankly - I figure he’ll be banned long before he leaves voluntarily.

For what it’s worth, I know clothahump in real life. He really is sincere in his political beliefs. The main difference is that his politics aren’t as big a deal in his real life. The overall liberalism of this board just seems to bring out the conservatism in him. Which is unfortunate because while we disagree on political issues, clothahump is one of the nicest guys you’d ever want to meet. If he avoided political issues, he’d probably be one of the most popular people on the board. But I guess he’s decided he’d rather stand up for what he thinks is right than be popular.

On the other hand, I’ve never met OMG A Black Conservative in real life. But even so, I feel based on his posts, that he really is a conservative. However, I’m not fully convinced he’s black.

And Glen Beck. He’s more or less admitted it.
