Frankly, I’d think that not just conservatives would find the concept of a DCL offensive, but so would liberals. That the liberal perspective isn’t strong enough to stand on it’s own and might need someone to actively sabotage the conservatives means that whoever is doing it isn’t only disingenuous but is essentially admiting that those views won’t work.
That said, I think accusing anyone of being a DCL on this board seems a little silly. As others have said, this board does tend to the left, and conservatives are already outnumbered and ridiculed, so what’s to gain from someone trying to sabotage it? Moreso, I know more than a few people who are far more right-wing than anyone on this board, those who would still vote in Bush, still convinced Obama is a Muslim who was born in Kenya, and all that sort of stuff, and they definitely believe every word they say.
I think the larger issue is, as touched on above, the Dunning-Kruger effect, except it’s not just the conservatives, a number of the liberals on this board have the same bias. If anything, given the general political atmosphere of this board, I’d be more inclined to believe there’s a Deep Cover Conservative out there, especially since I’ve seen more than a few people express about others on this board that they wish so-and-so wasn’t on their side. But still, I don’t think that’s very likely either since they still struck me as genuine about their beliefs, just terrible at making arguments to support it.
I would have put this in IMHO with a poll, but I figured it probably better belongs in the pit since we’re making accusations about other posters.
For those who are curious, a Deep Cover Liberal is a hypothetical person who espouses extremely right-wing vitriol, not out of sincerity, but in an effort to discredit conservatives by making them seem insane.

FWIW, Clothy is a very outspoken atheist, which goes against the cliched image he otherwise often evokes, so I don’t believe he’s parodying a stock Conservative. As I recall, I agreed with him twice on separate issues (neither of them religion or politics, as I remember) on the same day and practically had to go to bed early for fear of an asploding head.
Take any “cause”. Liberal. Conservative. Environmental. Civil Rights. Whatever.
For any of those there is as small but non-zero population that believes whatever it takes to win is the right thing to do, because, ya know, they are right and most everybody else is wrong!
Any possible “true believer” type roge undercover liberals (or whoevers) aren’t gonnna give a shit whether their fellow cohorts agree with their tactics or not. They won’t even care that the fact they have to use such tactics to win shows they are wrong and it won’t even phase them. THEY are right damnit and everybody else is an idiot of course.
When you look at OMG, Clothy and Shodan, I certainly believe they’re sincere. But the trouble is, they’re sincere because they have a completely made-up version of reality that they’re reacting to.
If you really believed the same nonsense and gibberish that Clothy does, you’d be angry all the time too. You’d be lashing out every chance you get with venom on your lips.
I wish they were DCLs, because that would mean they were just assholes, and not twitching, broken, angry victims of right-wing misinformation.

I doubt any Doper is a DCL myself. Given the insane lunacy of Republican pundits and elected officials, the very worst here are only one or two standard deviations from the reactionary norm. Half of them seem to be echoing the latest talking points sent from the RNC to Fox News anyhow.

Shodan is not remotely sincere about a single thing he says on this board. He is a team player and conservatism is his religion, but every time he gets facts shoved in his face, he stops responding like the intellectual coward he is. He’s fake as a chinatown rolex.
