And y’know, I keep meaning to start a Hawaii Dopers thread. I can think of about a dozen people who are either from Hawaii, or have family here, or have lived here before. But I’m sure there are others. I’m looking forward to seeing who posts here.

Not all states having daylight savings time. There are a few that don’t. There are lots of Hawaii dopers if you put ‘hawaii’ in the search box. But who lives in hawaii? Most seem to say Honolulu, or Maui or Oahu.
Okay, who’s been sending handy the pot? C’mon, fess up.
I dont know but I sure would like some pot. My brother said you can’t get into the middle of the islands cause they are guarded huge pot growing plantations.

Reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live sketch featuring Rob Morrow. All the lines he delivered were 30 seconds too late. Not that conversations here are truely linear but without quotes you tend to think like it is, lol.
I remember, on the Big Island, we used to grow plants 6’ tall.
I also remember Green Harvest. We lived in the forest so we could see all these helicopters flying around and dropping men on lines like a spider dropping a line. Lucky we had a green house! But Green Harvest is part of the reason why pot is very expensive here.

I came back to Hawaii after getting my masters on the mainland. It’s amazing how quickly I re-picked-up pidgin, even for a haole.

I lived in Kalihi, makai of Nimitz Highway, for 2.5 years in the early 90s.
It was nice. I liked that my apartment didn’t have heating or air conditioning, and didn’t need either. I liked all the beautiful local women. I liked the cheerful Samoan motorcycle gang who lived in my building.
I didn’t like living on such a small rock, so very far from almost everyone and everything I cared about. So while I remember my time there fondly, I’m also glad I no longer live there.
(In 1993 pakalolo was a hundred bucks a quarter (I was told; I was in the Navy at the time so didn’t risk partaking).) Is it more or less now?
