Who are the oldest members of this board?

No no no, I’m not looking for a list of names. I realize that on this board we value personal information about members more than anything. So listing the oldest members may in some way violate that, even though I don’t know how personally.

I just mean in general. I know this board had a previous life on some AOL board, and maybe even before that. But how many real old-timers are here. I was just raised to respect my elders.

ps: I did a search (took >5 minutes, and came up with a lot of posts regarding regaining charter memberships), and browsed the stickys… nothing seemed to mention the subject.

This is really more of a MPSIMS question than About This Message Board; it’s about the members.

So . . . moving.

Well… I thought I was in the right forum for the subject, but hey, at least I’ll get a lot more looks here. So thanks!

David Simmons, I believe, is the patriarch around here.

Do you mean who is physically the oldest person here who is a member, or people who have been members the longest?

We had a poll a while back (and I’m sure several times before that) that found KlondikeGeoff was our “highest-aged” member, at 79.

If you mean who’s been a member the longest…you might want to rephrase your subject…

I believe elucidator was a liberal and posting on this board when the raging liberal/conservative issue was unicellular/multicellular. Elucidator was of course foursquare on the multicellular side, and of course he had the last laugh on that one: some of his severest detractors actually downgraded to mitochondria!

Yeah – start a “longest member” thread!

Who would detemine the accuracy of the reporting?

Looks like Monty is the elder statesman of the board. He was the 12th member to join, and the only one still active.

Err, I mean that he is the only one still active of the first 12.

Maybe you were right the first time. Be careful Monty and don’t watch any of the Final Destination movies, they’ll just make you worry more.

How can you tell he was the 12th member to join? Is there a membership number somewhere that’s viewable?

Coldfire wins that one, but I can’t find the thread that proved it…

Click on your own name and pull up your public profile, the #'s at the end of the url are your member #. Monty has been around longer than the perfect master, who holds member # 31.

Click the link to Monty’s name. His userid is 14. Lynn’s is 2, but she joined a month after Monty did. Puzzling, that.

The benefits of power.

It might be the same reason that my number is so high - I joined here under a different name, used that for a year or two, then wanted to change it. So I created a new account, and the mods moved my startup date to match my orignal account. But my member number is the one for the newer account.

Yeah, but that ignores the AOL years.

Manny of us were at least semi-active on AOL.

Who’s Manny?

I am 63
I am # 33 on the present board.
I joined the AOHell SDMB community in 96.
As I understand it, I am the oldest continuosmember of the present board, ( with no breaks of any kind) who is not an Admin.

TUBADIVA and Lynn B or other mods are free to correct me if I have this wrong.
