Actually I’ll go with Zorak.
Ed Norton
Rhoda Morgenstern
Barney Fife
So many to choose from.
Hermione Granger
Chewbacca
Nanny Ogg, if you can consider her a sidekick rather than a force of nature unto herself
Samwise Gamgee, Willow Rosenberg, and Susan Sto Helit are runners up. In fact, Death has a number of interesting sidekicks. I liked The Death of Rats and Albert as well as Susan. Mort and Ysabell were a little too bland to be among my favorites.
Actually not, because I don’t really care for them, but because they come in a three-pack:
The Wonder Twins and Gleek.
Sam Gamgee is a good one. I’ll go with him for #1.
Peter the Oakwood Estates town drunk emeritus, now sidekicking for Rex O’Herlihan, the Singing Cowboy will be #2.
Sky High Hero Support teacher Mr. Boy (who, as All-American Boy, sidekicked for The Commander) in the #3 slot.
(I might have tried a Doctor Who companion, but around here, that’s just asking for a holy war.)
Eddie Haskell – Wally Cleaver
Toto – Dorothy Gale
Francisco d’Anconia – John Galt
Baldrick, from Blackadder.
Morgan Grimes, from Chuck.
Cisco Ramon, from The Flash.
Dr Watson - Sherlock Holmes (surprised this one is getting more love)
Samwise Gamgee - Frodo Baggins
Chewbacca - Han Solo
I’m surprised Prof. Pepperwinkle didn’t mention Jack Larson as Jimmy Olson to George Reeves’ Superman.
Well, I should point out that he hasn’t returned any of my texts for literally years.
I thought about it, but I couldn’t decide between Leela or Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart.
Watson/Holmes
Don Knotts/Andy Griffith
Paul Shaffer/Dave Letterman
Damn … completely nin’ja’ed …
#4) Danny Madigan 'kicking for Jack Slater in Last Action Hero … “Wait a second, I’M the sidekick in this movie here for comic relief … why am I doing 80 mph on my bike down this hill ???”
#5) Lord Talmanes Delovinde 'kicking for Matrim Cauthon … “Yes, Mat, all nobility are stuck-up twits” … “Yes, Mat, all women twist men to do their bidding” … “Yes, Mat, nothing good comes from the One Power”
#6) Lil’ Ed 'kicking for The Master … hey, professional editors are few and far between anymore …
- Barney Fife - Andy Taylor
- Niles Crane - Frasier Crane
- Buddy Sorrell - Rob Petrie
mmm
Mole (Wind in the Willows)
Samwise Gamgee (Lord of the Rings)
Arthur (The Tick)
I’ve always liked super-loyal sidekicks to evil characters for some reason. Smithers to Mr. Burns, for example. Or Kobayashi to Kaiser Soze, Owen to Zanatos, Wesley to Kingpin.
Gaston - Alphonse
Carl Reiner - Mel Brooks
Elwood => Jake Blues
The Waco Kid => Sheriff Bart
Penfeld => Danger Mouse
I’ll go with these two, as I like sidekicks who rival the person they’re sidekicking.
And I’ll go with the Jude Law version of Doctor Watson, a vast improvement over any previous Holmes sidekick I’ve found.
