Didn’t know it had to be a cartoon. In that case he reminds me of Deputy Dawg! Yeah, he’s not a cartoon human, but he’s an anthropomorphised dog. If you insist on a cartoon human consider Luann’s brother Brad whose third from the right in this cartoon.
Something from James Thurber maybe?
Perhaps you should contact Glenn Sullivan, and ask him who people tells him he reminds them of.
Just to follow your lead I Googled Rodney and didn’t find any really young pictures of him and the ones that were there didn’t come close to the Glenn shot. But thanks for the idea.
In the eyes, you’re right. But the rest of the face is missing something I feel is essential. Again, thanks.
It might turn out not to be a cartoon, but if it is a cartoon it’s going to be more like the Futurama or Family Guy types.
Just might be. Got any images to link to?
Supreme idea! It may just come to that! ![]()
Didn’t Charles Schwab have some ads recently where everyone in the commercial was displayed as a pencil drawing? Could it be someone from those commercials?
I don’t remember it as a group drawing.
They weren’t group drawings. It was usually one person talking about retirement, financial planning, etc.
ETA: Something like these(but I don’t see anyone in this particular commercial who resembles our man…).
Ah, OK. I don’t think that’s it, but I could be wrong.
That has great possibilities for bridging the Cartoon-Human gap. The only real issue I’m having with those “animations” is that my image has very little, if any, movement to it. It may not be a true “still” but it’s more like an icon or stationary “bug” in whatever setting it may be in.
However, all that said, this is the closest yet in capturing the “feel” of what’s stuck in my mind! Good try!
Nor do I. The only other component of my “mystery guy” image is that there may be a dog (or other critter) featured alongside him. I almost want the dog to have a Mr. Peabody appearance, and it may even speak!
Picture, if you can, Mr. Peabody alongside a cartoonized Glenn Sullivan. That’s what’s stuck in my head!
And the part I’m most convinced about is that this “mystery image” is relatively recent. Not as old as Rocky and Bullwinkle by a long shot. Maybe five years old, but not 20.
You mean Zoe? Doing okay. She has been zero help in all this! ![]()
Okay. I have Googled “james thurber drawings” in the Image search area and although there are plenty of dogs, none of them are close and none of the human (and cartoon human) pictures are close.
He sort of looks like a cross between Adam Arkin and Matthew Lesko, but I can’t think of any cartoon characters like that.
It would be cruel to rub his face in it.![]()
I’m very familiar with Adam Arkin from the season of Sons of Anarchy where he was a dominant character. I have looked at every image in that Google set and none of them is close enough to Glenn Sullivan to have been a trigger for me.
Good possibility that I appreciate your trying on. Thanks!
Agreed! I’m just hoping that if he stumbles across this thread that he won’t be insulted or annoyed that I/we have found a resemblance to him and are trying to identify it. (I know that some Jeopardy! people do participate at SDMB.)
Along this line it would be reasonable for Mr. Sullivan to have seen Dopers on Jeopardy! THE List which was started 11-18-2004, 02:39 PM by commasense and which has an updated list as of 07-28-2010, 10:20 PM also by commasense.
Goofy looking Rip Riley.
