In fairness, the only times I heard anything about him was when talk radio would be attacking him for something he said. But, oh-boy did he say some stupid things. It seemed to be a regularly occurring theme that he would step into one mess or another.
I remember well his very fake looking attempt at emotion during a speech about the war. He spoke almost at a whisper, but at the same time trembling with rage: “It’s wrong!” “It’s wrong.” “It’s wrong!” It was really bad, even for a politician who you expect to be full of it. Definately the worst display of feigned emotion from a politician since Gore speaking to black churches in the 2000 election.

I’m not glad, per se, but (as a Democrat) I do think he was a crappy leader. The term “whiny bitch” got slung around in my house during the elections, and typically it was either him or Alan Keyes being described. Hopefully a far superior replacement will be found.
