Since my job is singing in a church choir, I’m about to leave for work and will be there until around 2:00 Christmas morning. Rehearse, mass, dinner, then more rehearsing and Midnight mass.

Now I am waiting for stormchaser to get home so I can take a nap.
I’m here at the radio station, working up a sweat reading the SDMB. There’s been no management here since Friday, and the only people left in the entire radio/TV conglomerate are the receptionist, our afternoon newscaster, and me. I have to wait for my wife to come pick me up at 5:30 EST.
Everything we could have programmed in advance has been done since 1 PM, and I haven’t had squat to do since then but this, and drink tea. What’s the past tense of bored?

Well, since I’m plumb out of vacation time, and our holiday shutdown week starts tomorrow, I have to put in a full day.
Fortunately, there’s a mall nearby and I was able to get some shopping done at lunch.
And, all the bosses are out, so no one is pressuring me to accomplish anything beyond the everyday administrative stuff.
So, cheer up – your bosses aren’t around, so you can hang out all day on SDMB, or download Nethack and spend the day playing one of the world’s oldest (and still best) computer games.
I’m here, proofreading as usual. Will duck out around 6:15 intead of my usual 7:00 (I come in at midday). I worked late Monday and Tuesday, so gotta get the baking and wrapping done tonight. :eek:
Oh, and even though the office will be officially closed on Friday, I’ll be putting in a full day’s work, just to catch up on my backlog. Somewhat.
Heh - the deputy GM just came around and told everyone that “the badge swiper is broken.”
Which is code for “leave whenever you want; we’re not checkin’ when you punch out…”
But I will be coming in at least once during our shutdown week… I have lab work to catch up on.
I just got home from a fun-filled day of pulling out sheetrock from an unheated, burned-out house.
My boss gave me a big ol’ ham though, so it’s all good. 
I’m working today (Xmas day) and all days up to and beyond New Year. We’ve got a little Xmas Tree in the galley and all the tinsel ‘n’ stuff sways merrily as the sea tosses us around.
I work everyday-- I have 5 kids and a wife. But it’s all good

I am working (or s’posed to be) right now and it’s 2:44 am. I get off at 7 am, stopping off at my son’s house for a quick brekky and to watch my grandson open his presents, then it’s off to bed with my dumb ass so that I can start the whole thing again tonight.
But for that, I get my birthday (New Year’s Eve) and New Year’s Day off, so it’s not a bad trade all in all.

We’re both working today - there’s a hotel full of guests!
Fotos goes in at 10am and should be out sometime about 11pm. He’s a chef, and is covering the restaurant today (he usually only does banquets, of which there are none today). I’m covering the front-of-house in the restaurant (meaning, I’ll be waiting on tables). I’m normally a banquet event supervisor, and, as previously stated, no banquets today. I go in for 4 and should be out about midnight.
We’re covering for some people who have little kids and should have the time off to spend with them.
I had to work yesterday – well, maybe I should say my corporeal self had to be at the office yesterday, but it’s not like any actual work got done by anyone there – and Papa Tiger worked the overnight shift last night so his coworkers with young kids could have the time with their families. Thank heavens the days of being awakened at 6 am by over-excited children are past for us!

I am at home but officially I work 24×7×365 since I could be paged into duty at any time of the day or night.
I’m doing a double today, but I’m obviously surfing the 'Net and making up a packing list. I brought DVDs and Diet Coke, and am dreaming about a new laptop. I’m working on New Year’s, too----can’t turn down the double time.
I worked yesterday, I work today, and tommorrow. I work night shift, so really I’m supposed to be sleeping right now, but this set’s struck me a tiny bit of insomnia.
So, instead of spending Christmas with my family, I spend it with a bunch of inmates who are going to expect me to let them break all sorts of rules and get away with hell just 'cause it’s Christmas. Meanwhile, the higher ups in administration have decided that when day shift runs chow, the inmates get to take a second tray to their cells. It’s gonna have fruit. So either administration is stupid(which they are) or they made the concious decision to supply the inmates with all the material they need to have hooch ready for New Year’s Eve. As if them being drunk right now isn’t bad enough.
Another day in paradise.
