So how many crazy people, except for the store employees that we all feel sorry for, had to come into work today? There are a grand total of three people in my section today, I actually think I may be in charge.
I have nothing to do except sit around and play computer chess, or surf the boards, or goof off. I can also somewhat crank the music up a bit. Though it is getting kind of lonely around here. Maybe I should go exploring the other floors.
Maybe we should do a rubber band fight with all the people who are at work with nothing better to do.
I probably should be at work, but I’d be the only one since practically everyone else went out of town for Thanksgiving. I figure I can get just as much SDMB time today here at home as I could there.
I’m here, along with most of the people in my department. We used to get today off, but they realized it was wreaking havoc with skeds, so they gave us a floating holiday instead. We still get two days at Xmas, but the second day for New Years is now another floater. (I always take off New Year’s Eve anyway, since it’s my birthday [hint hint].)
I’m at work. Apparently I’m the only one in my group who’s here today, so I get to support the entire company. Although I doubt there will be that many issues for me to deal with today.
We were going to be in (and, sadly, I had again been designated the ‘responsible officer’ who couldn’t take the day off) but on Tuesday my CEO decided he didn’t want to come in and therefore everyone could have the day off.
I’m here–this is one of the few public libraries open today. But it seems that all the patrons are off shopping so it’s pretty quiet (well, quieter than usual at the library )
I’m in as well. I am on call for our department so I guess I am in charge (BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…)
But as Brit in America who has no family here or any real appreciation of the Thanksgiving weekend it is just a normal day for me - well apart from the fact there is no-one in the yard. I also had Mac & Cheese for dinner last night. I have jobs leaving tonight so I will be in late for when crews leave. Gotta love the oilfield!
I am also rambling as there is no-one in here to talk to. Sorry.
ems don’t feel too bad. I had blueberry pancakes for dinner last night.
DH has to work 12.5 hours today but the nice thing is it’s double OT so I GUESS I’ll allow him this much…
I’m at work, although I could have stayed home. We don’t get paid for holidays (any of them) so I couldn’t afford to stay at home one extra day.
Actually, though, it worked out fine because my boss needed some reports done that are extremely time consuming, and I wouldn’t have had time to do them Monday. I’m actually working, not goldbricking!
Um, of course except for right now reading the boards, of course.
I’m working today too. We’re opening our big Christmas show this weekend, so we’re going to be rehearsing all day, and then a performance tonight (probably end up being a 14 hour day). At least I got yesterday off…
I’ll be at work tonight. I don’t normally work on Fridays, but I traded shifts with someone else, so he gets to go home for Thanksgiving, and I get to go home for New Years. Coupled with my obligatory holiday shift yesterday, I’ll be working about 60 hours this week.
None of our specialists will be seeing appointments, but will be available for emergencies. That means no one but the ICU techs and one intern will be there during the day, and then we’ll have the full emergency staff during the night. What will probably happen is that it will be dead all day, and then about the time people start to get home from shopping or whatever, all hell will break loose. Things that have been going on since last weekend suddenly won’t be able to wait another minute, and the owners will likely be all pissy because we’re backed up and they have to wait a bit. Of course, it’s like that every weekend.
