While the rest of my family sits at home in full digestive torpor, I was forced to journey to my place of employment.
Here I sit, contemplating one of the imponderable questions of life. Namely, “what sort of congenital idiot schedules a two-hour conference call to begin at 11:30am EST the Friday after Thanksgiving?”
I’m here, but basically doing not much. My boss and I had a meeting this morning to decide where to go to lunch. I’ll be leaving early this afternoon to go riding, though. Only 3.5 more hours!
I have some work to get done by a Sunday deadline, but I was given a choice as to whether or not I wanted the project, and it’s only 4-6 hours more work. Thus is the life of the self-employed work at home types.
Yeah, I’m at work… My office is actually closed, and no one else is here, but I have a boss who is crazier than the bosses for hte whole rrest of the department, and so here I am.
I haven’t done jack, today, either, because there’s not really much to be done when all the other offices I’d have to talk to shut down till monday. But my very presence makes my boss think I’m dedicated, so what the hell.
It was funny riding the train in today. There were about six people in the entire compartment.
Yep, I’m at work too. Dangitall. Not that I’m getting much done, y’understand.
Things are reallyquiet. It’s almost eerie looking out the window because there are so few cars and people moving around. I guess they’re either at the mall for the annual shopping frenzy or they’re stilll sacked out and digesting, like pythons.
::sighs::
Yep, the clinic’s open today and I’m transcribing like mad trying to get caught up. Worked all day yesterday, too, trying to clear out the backlog while the clinic was closed. We don’t get holidays off unless we SPECIFICALLY request them off well in advance.
I am not at work yet, but I will be tonight. I work at a restaurant and it is either going to be dead as a doornail because everyone is still full from yesterday, or really busy becuase no one wants to cook today. I don’t have the SDMB to keep me company when I am board either. I only have the company of an insanly annoying co-worker who thinks making fart noises is funny.
Yep!
But, on the plus side, I’m putting together the itineraries of all of the attendees of the SIX year-end meetings that my company is planning.
No interruptions today!
And, by Monday, it’ll be too late for the whiners to change their itineraries without penalties!
This time next year, or maybe two years from now, you’ll be in the same “use it or lose it” category as the rest of us gainfully employed people. Hang in there.
And, tisiphone, what did you do on Tuesday, November 12th?
TVeblen, I got a crap-load done today. The phone didn’t ring, I got no whining e-mail…
Well I had tole myself to get some things done today but spent half the morning sleeping. Sheesh. I’ve set myself a deadline to finish a project by the end of the month (which is tomorrow) so that I can bill 100%.
or else Santa won’t come !! But here I am on the SDMB. <giggle>
