Well how many of you slept in today?? while others like me had to work? You know people are funny when they work they expect to get paid, so have to go into office and do payroll. When you get up, have fun!!!
Well, I’ve been at work since 5:30 a.m. today (7 p.m., 2 July, Cali time, dude).
The American Ambassador to Kuwait and the theater of operations commander have come and gone, I’ve put the final touches on the ship’s Independence Day celebrations for tomorrow, conducted a GQ and three PMS spot check.
It’s about 5 p.m. my time, and I still have to shoot the evening newscast, proof tomorrow’s paper, shoot a Swim Call Brief with the XO and Navigator and hold training for 5 of my people for an hour at 9 p.m.
So quit yer bitchin’ and enjoy your day off tomorrow. I sure as hell won’t be getting off (double entendre intended).
Count me among the Monday workers.
Well, “work” is a relative term …
I think I’ll go back to bed. yawn
I think I will have a nap, that drive in last night kept me out late!
Ahhhhh long weekends. 
I had to work today. I will have to work tomorrow. And I am most unhappy about it.
Ya know when you first wake up in the morning, then close you eyes for a few more minutes? I always have the most vivid dreams in that few minutes, and they feel SO real.
Like this morning, after agonizing about the fact that I had to get up and go to work, I hit the snooze and had this wonderful dream, where everybody was just hanging out and doing whatever they wanted. So I asked this guy why no one was at work and he said, “What is this work thing that you speak of?” Boy, I sure hope I can pick that dream up when I get home tonight…
My wife had to go to work today, so I’m at home with the kids. Like I am all the time, I admit. So I didn’t get to sleep in.
I have around 7 jobs, almost all of them volunteer. I work or on call, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. I take sleep when I can get it, which is often right now because its summer.
Work? Yea, I’m here too. I actually had to do some this morning, until the SDMB came back on line!

I came in to work, if only because Editing has two people: my boss and me. Because my boss took the day off (the perogatives of rank), I had to come in just to keep an eye on the department in case anything came in. Of course, nothing did. Aaaarrrrgh!
Ah yes, payroll. I can sympathize. My husband does the payroll for the company he works for. When I went into labor with our 3rd child it happened to be payroll day. He went into the office before driving me to the hospital. In an ice storm. She was born 30 min. after we were admitted.
I’m not at work today, only because my normal days off are Sunday and Monday. I work tomorrow, and the rest of the week.
Holidays? What are those? Ha! I SPIT on your holidays! I worked Thanksgiving, Christmas (and Christmas Eve), and New Year’s/New Year’s Eve. I think I took one holiday last year, and that was because it was right in the middle of my vacation time, so they kind of had to give it to me.
The nice thing is, I have weird evening hours, so I do get to spend a little family time on these holidays, before I go to work. Also - I got paid off at the end of the year for all the unused holidays I didn’t get. That was a nice “bonus”.
But - it sucks big time to not get holidays. (Well, I “get” them, but I never get to use them.) At least I’ll get Christmas and New Years off this year. They fall on my days off.
i slept in today as usual. this is my summer vacation.
I wish I was at work today, yes I am one of those people who REALLY like their work 
. I took a 4 day weekend and am bored to death!!!

I better set the clock right now. I have to work on the 4th. I don’t mind. Who wants to be at the beach, drinking beer, cooking on the grill, sitting by the pool? I think I’m depressed. Oh hell, I’ll just have a beer now…
No 4 day weekend for me. Oh well. But I wonder what’s gonna happen next year, because the 4th is gonna fall on a Wednesday. So, are we gonna see some 5 day weekends happening?
I did both, actually. I slept in and went to work, if you consider going in at 10 to be late. As for five day weekends next year, if anybody out there will be enjoying one, let me send my enmity and bitterness in advance.
I slept in today, but I’ll be doing some overtime later. The best of both worlds, perhaps?
