Who else is at work today?

I’m in publishing, and the production schedule grinds on regardless of holidays, so six or eight years ago they stopped giving us the day after T’giving off (and gave us a floating holiday instead). You can, at least theoretically, take the day off – though no more one or two people in the department. Since I don’t have to travel far on Turkey Day, I let others (who do) be the one or two people in my dept.

So I’m here, as is my boss, though her boss isn’t (ahem – three doors in a row on executive row are closed, meaning the occupant isn’t in today, I noticed on my last trip to the photocopier).

And, if you are at work today, is it a slow day, or normal, or busy? It should be pretty normal here – or would be if the overnight package I’d been expecting from UPS got here, I’m trying to find out if it was sent Weds. or not …

Our company is enlightened enough to give us a four-day weekend. Nice. The only drawback to working for them is that we are on the military servers, so no surfing the SDMB while at work. It comes up as a prohibited site.

I am.

But then I’m in Canada.

Snow!

Coming towards the end of the day over here in England. Been a real boring day. I think it’s just the “can’t be bothered Friday thing” kicking in. Freezing cold outside and dark already… brrr. Less than an hour left and something interesting just came up, so perhaps it won’t drag so much.
Have a good weekend all

I’m here. Heaven forbid a tenant’s toilet should overflow or something.

I am. The company’s stores are open today, so the corporate offices are open, too.

Snow!

Can I get a “Double Time” anybody?

Ahhhhh it’s a dog’s life being on the skeleton crew but the money’s good. I’ll be taking calls today but not likely to make many. Wouldn’t want to remind my customers that their car’s kaput in the middle of a long weekend. Working tomorrow too. But only half a day.

Although I own a small retail shop, it is not the sort that people flock to on “Black Friday” . In fact, in over 20 years in this industry I have never seen a soul the day after Thanksgiving, and yet here I am because I know that the year that I finally say “screw this I’m not opening on Friday” will be the year that someone wants a frame on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

There’s plenty to do here, but I treat it more like a day off. I’m AT work but not actually working.

I’m staying until noon. I have overtime, and if I stay the whole day, I’ll still only get paid for 40 hours. It’s very, very slow here today. I think the phone has rung twice all morning. There’s really no point in being here.

I will be, and so am I.

(But, alas, not with Sunspace. Woe.)

Snow snow snow! glee

I work for a local newspaper and we are open. I wore jeans and a pull over in today, I figured since no one was going to see me it didn’t matter

I have been keeping a score on my day calander with my bright orange hilighter. Six calls today and one was a wrong number! Sometimes we close early on Black Friday so I have my fingers crossed.

I’m about to be. It’s Black Friday at the bookstore. Light a candle or something, will you?

My girlfriend is. :frowning: I got up with her at the buttcrack of dawn and drove her to the train. :frowning: :frowning: And she works all weekend. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

She works at the Starbucks on the first floor of my office building.

The U.S. Federal Gov’t is open today, so here I am. But it’s a slow one. Good luck to our members in retail.

I’m here now, but my boss wants to leave early and she says I can too. Yay! It’s so dead here that being here at all is pretty pointless.

I really need to go home and wash a bunch of dishes anyway, but I may hit a store or two first. I try to avoid the Black Friday insanity, but the places I need to go probably won’t be as busy.

Not from the salaried. I’m on my way in; I need to be physically present for a bit today, but can work from home for the rest of the weekend. Good times.

Speaking of retail - I’m here at the bank to make sure all of those sales transactions go through OK.

We’ve got the mainframes warmed up and ready to handle up to something like four million transactions per second. Mind you, that’s full power and then some - smoke coming out of the tape drives and the city’s lights dim as the extra air conditioning for the data center kicks in. Usually, we’re sorta loafing along at about 50,000 - 100,000 transactions per second.

I am, but I’m self-employed and work at home, so I’m still in my pajamas. Also, to be honest, not working very hard, else I wouldn’t be here, obviously.

But in my defense, before yesterday I worked for at least 30 days straight, and I’m talking long, hard days. A day or two of being a slacker is called for occasionally, and this is a good day for it.

I’m here, as are about 15 of my coworkers. Usually we don’t have first shift folks during the week, but with the kids out of school the staff needs to be here. Plus TPTB closed down one of our units and moved the kids who didn’t have visits over to the other units, and crowded conditions tends to bring on acting out (considering I’ve been here since 9 and haven’t seen hide nor hair of anyone, I figure things must be a bit dicey on the units). I haven’t moved from my office yet (trying to catch up on clinical notes), although I’ll head down to feed the horses in a bit… then I’ll probably swing out of here early, as I have comp hours saved up.

I’m here. So are the NP, LVN, and the MA. The physical therapists who share our space are all off though. I could’ve taken a float, but I had nothing better to do.

Howevre, last night at 11:30 when I had to drag myself away from my freinds at the bar- I really wished I had today off.
