Who's got the day after Thanksgiving off?

I do.

Where I work, we have some groups on the federal holiday schedule, and others on the corporate holiday schedule. I’m on the corporate schedule, so while I don’t get the day off for MLK Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day, I do get the day after Thanksgiving off.

And except for a trip to the hardware store to get a new light bulb for the fridge, I don’t plan on doing any shopping today.

Me! The place I work at has always given TH and Fr off. I had some vacation days to burn so I took Monday off too.

Me

I’ve just been working T-W-Th since the first of the year, but my company is another of those that doesn’t give MLK or Columbus day, but they do give today as a holiday, so I’m getting some bonus holiday pay! YAY!

I don’t have a job. :frowning:

Me!

Me! Me! Me!

First time in years I’ve had the day after Thanksgiving off (except those years I was entirely unemployed).

Not going nowhere today. Going to catch up on my rest, tidy up a bit, spend too much time on the computer, read a bit, and do some artsy-craftsy stuff.

Tomorrow I go back to being adult. Not because I have to go to work (I have tomorrow off, too!) but because stuff needs to get done.

Friday is my regular day off, but Friday after Thanksgiving is considered a paid holiday. So I can either take 8 hours extra pay on my check or take 8 hours comp time (paid time off on another day). FYI I always take the comp time. Same rule applies with overtime worked.

Sort of. The office is closed today so I don’t have to go in. But I brought some work home that needs to get done. Today seems like a good day to do it.

I’m at work right now, but I like working on Black Friday. Best work day of the year. No traffic, no students, minimal amount of actual work to do. All I really have to do today is show up and run out the clock.

Not only do I have today off, I have all next week off as well!

After several years of being underemployed, having some paid holidays is extra sweet.

Man, what a day it’s been. I slept until 9:00am, got up and checked to see if anybody posted anything on the internet, got sleepy again, hit the couch and took a nap. I managed to take a shower and go pick up a prescription at the pharmacy. Now I’m drinking beer and monitoring the internet in case somebody posts something.

I work in education, so both workplaces are closed today. So is my husband’s. I think it’s the first time in a decade that neither I nor my SO work retail, so we are enjoying avoiding stores today.

I’m on the UAW holiday schedule, so I get today off, as well as those other holidays.

Off: yeah
Paid: nope

I work a 9/80 schedule, which is where you work 9 hours a day Mon.-Thurs. and 8 hours on Friday one week, and then and then another week of four 9 hour days, and then take Friday off. So it still adds up to 80 hours over the two week pay period, but you get a three day weekend every other week. So I do get today off, but only because it’s my normal Friday off anyway. If it hadn’t worked out that way it wouldn’t have been a paid holiday.

Now I have every day off  but when I worked I always had it off.

I don’t think I’ve ever not had the Day after Thanksgiving off.

I Did the dishes, scooped the cat boxes, took out the garbage and recycling, Picked up some things at the store, brought down the Christmas stuff from the attic, set up the tree, strung up and programmed the outside lights, cleaned up the dog poop in our yard*, got all the leaves from outside (for the third time this year), re-secured the tarp on out outdoor swing, then came in and edited my book.

I would’ve done less at work, if I’d gone in. Now I’m gonna take a shower.

  • we don’t have a dog, but our neighbor’s dog comes over to our yard. Tryin’ to expand his territory, I think.

I retired in 2009 so, yeah, I have it off.

Me: the university I work for always uses the day after Thanksgiving as one of our holidays.
