Who had a White Christmas?

We did. Lots of ice and snow that fell on Tuesday and Wednesday. At first it was really fun. I LOVE cold weather. Now, it’s even beginning to grate on me a little. I’ve fallen three times. The last time I ended up in the bushes laughing so hard my sister had to come check on me. But today my dad slipped and fell really hard. He’s not moving well at all.

Since this is basically a poll, I’ll move it to In My Humble Opinion for you.

Not here, thankyouverymuch.
If we want snow, we run up to Tahoe, or something. Best snow in the US. Just as I like it.
Peace,

Don’t you guys wear those spiky things on your shoes, like they do in the midwest?

Oh, I definitely had a white Christmas. I went to Blue Mountain for a snowboarding trip.

What spiky things? It’s not any fun unless your shoes act like ice skates! Up to Richmond, IN for the holiday, there was over 2 ft. of snow. So cool! BIL had plowed the driveway just wide enough to get cars in. Cinnamon Little jumped out of the side door on the van into soft snow well past her knees – stuck. She thought it would be hard. It wasn’t. Of course, as she whimpered at her dilemma, I laughed hysterically and grabbed my camera before I helping her out.

The kids plowed trails in the front yard and built the coolest snow fort for the eagerly anticipated snowball fight with the neighbor kids.

It was absolutely beautiful. Couldn’t have asked for a whiter, more appropriate Christmas.

These doo-hickeys, Cinnamon Girl.
After much falling on my cute lil’ butt in the Chicago area, I finally discovered the natives wearing them. Very funny, watching the clutzy California boy. “You need a hand there, sport?”
I’m talking real, refrozen, packed down, dirty city ice. You must be talking that new-fallen, storybook snow stuff.

We had a white Christmas in Memphis, Tennessee for the first time since 1963 (when I was not around). It was great.

Here in central Arkansas we had the first white Christmas in about 23 years. Although most of the snow came down a couple of days before, it hung around until today. I don’t mind the inconvenience of the snow and ice, but I was ticked off that is came down after I was already out of school for the holidays. This would have been a perfect five day weekend around the middle of January! I love a good snow day!

We hardly get enough snow for it to be worth it, but my mother does have a pair. Most years we might get one or two days of snow that melt by the next day.

While Louisville got snow all Lexington received was lots of freezing rain and ice. So it was more a translucent Christmas I suppose.

I FINALLY got out of the house today. This is the first day the car’s started. I hadn’t been out since Tuesday. Luckily, I went to the store Tuesday night. However, I didn’t get the chance to leave the faucet running before my pipes froze over. I haven’t had a shower at my house (Sellersburg) in about three days. Luckily, I did laundry the day before all the snow hit.

My dishes, however, are another story.

We had snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas day (not a lot, but with some accumulation) which is the first I in my memory here in Houston.

You wouldn’t want to be living here this year then. While it didn’t snow on Christmas, it didn’t stop snowing today. And it was the wet slushy icky kind.

I made 1010011010 take me to the ocean. I’d never been to the beach when it snowed. I wanted to see what it looked like. He kept muttering to himself about how much he didn’t like me. Something about really strong winds and a lot of moisture in the air.

Interesting; I’d never seen these before (despite five winters spent up north in very snowy places), but just today I saw tracks where someone had been wearing them.

Thanks mangeorge. I’d never seen those before. I would imagine Chicagoans are quite fond of watching a west coaster suffer through their insane winters. I’ll stick with the storybook stuff.

My part of the Cleveland area got about 12 inches of snow on the 23rd and we’re getting more now. I’ve never seen those shoes-grippy things sold around here, but they’d be great for my mom. I’m hoping the “warming trend” that’s expected over the next few days will allow me to shovel out more of my brother’s drive so when he gets back from Florida at the end of the week he can pull all the way into his drive. Not just the approach, which is all I’ve manged to clear…and I hurt my knee doing it, too. This housesitting gig sucks…all three of the fish died.

Not me.

It snowed for the first time in 109 years here in the Rio Grande Valley of deep south Texas. We had almost four inches on the palm trees and hibiscus by Christmas morning. There was ice on the windshields and not an ice scraper in the whole valley. My power went out about 7:30 Christmas eve but was back on by morning; however, there are still about 1000 homes without power.

Well, sounds like you’re having a sucky holiday week. How’d you hurt your knee, slip on the icy driveway? Just kidding. Be careful, and save the rest of the shoveling for your brother. My brother lives in one of the Cleveland burbs, but I don’t remember which.
Anyway, that’s exactly what I hate about snow in the city. That, and the cold.
The weather here today? Rainy, mid 50’s.
