Who handles name changes now that Tuba is gone?
Just PM a mod. They’ll pass it up the chain to Ed or Jerry or whoever handles them.
The smart money * says you should directly contact an admin, such as Ed Zotti.
And no PMs, at least not at the initial point you make the request.
For security they insist you use only e-mail, and only the one your SDMB account is currently linked to.

That was the source of my advice and I consider her a reliable source on the matter, although I am not a mod myself. Maybe she or another moderator can confirm that advice. Ideally, Ed should update the FAQ with the proper protocol, too.
I’ve been handling most of the name changes simply because I’m the ATMB moderator and this is where folks ask about it. Really though, you can contact any moderator. We can’t make the name change ourselves, but we’ll handle a lot of the grunt work involved (verifying the request, making sure the name is available, etc) in order to reduce the workload on the admins. Once that is done, we will forward the info to an admin who will actually make the change.
So the best thing right now is to contact a moderator. You can send us a PM if you want. For security reasons we will ask for you to send an e-mail with the request from the e-mail account that is listed on your SDMB user account, so make sure that your e-mail address is valid and up-to-date. Starting with a PM probably isn’t a bad idea, as e-mails sometimes get caught by spam catchers even though they aren’t spam. If you contact us by PM first, then if we don’t receive your e-mail we will at least know that it is coming and can check our spam folders.

Okay, I did not know that about mods reducing workload for admins by preliminary processing.

I was… not exactly right.
In fact, I did originally contact engineer_comp_geek before discussing a multiphase change decision with Ed Zotti. Since I did eventually need an admin I thought it would make sense to directly appeal to one.
The server would not allow a double space in my original request. I asked for three periods in its place. I decided that had an ugly look to it, and then went in a rather different direction, although within the same theme.
Ed Zotti was gracious enough to consider everything a single name change request, rather than three, and I am grateful.
Strangely enough, I noted two people under the friends box had apparently solicited my SDMB friendship.
One said she had been described as “intellectually hot”! 
So yeah, maybe someday I will be known as Found Friends.
