Who Has The Longest Active Dope Membership?

7193, baby! Awwww yeaaaah!

This guy might be the winner (#101).

4708 !I made the top 5000!

Well… I mean, damn! Y’all are so happy to have low membership numbers…

Can I at least be #1 in the bat-shit department, then?

Q

Quasi, considering some folks we’ve had on here, I don’t think you’re even in the running. Sorry to disappoint you.

bullshit department???

Thanks, Colibri. I appreciate it!

Q

Agreed. Also if you are losing your marbles a bit, it is just a reminder you had some to begin with. Unlike some of the posters here.

How could you possibly get your posts/day average to go above 1? Just asking as my statistics are…

Total Posts: 245

Posts Per Day: 0.06

I still love it here. I guess now that I have joined the ranks of the unemployed, I may move a decimal point, But I’ve always enjoyed reading more than posting. My internal dialogue makes coming here like a nice conversation with a well read, more or less well educated group of friends.

When I’m craving a variety of different topics of conversation with good people, I can come here for a quick escape…

You’re all good people, for the most part, and that’s why I’ve been here as long as I have and why I keep paying to be here…

I’m user 1780 and would have been lower but I was in the middle of a divorce when the sdmb went online and had no internet for a couple weeks.

Still only .70 posts per day; I was inactive for quite a while. I read the site daily but don’t post like I used to.

Well you have a significantly lower ratio than I do. I figured, (and someone correct me if my math is wrong) that to get a ratio to =1 then I would need 11x365 posts+ 2 leap days=4017

4017-939=3076.
So if I posted 3076 times today, my ratio would be approximately 1. (Plus the moderators would be freaking out, and my keyboard would die.) Since that isn’t going to happen, I added another 365 days to get to this time next year, divided that number and got 9.4 posts/day, so lower than the 11 which I used as a rough average.

That seems reasonable, but not actually likely for me. Unless I start playing more feuds and commenting more on things I’ve read, I will probably stay below 1 post /day for a long time. Or find something else for an Ask the Thread. That spiked my posting for a brief while.

Like you I come to listen and enjoy the conversation. I don’t always need to say something just to enjoy being here. (Nothing against people with high post counts, its just not me.)

Member number 47, with a whopping 0.16 posts per day.

I’m one of the founding lurkers, I guess.

I’m member #11,659.

Nothing particularly notable about that, other than the fact that I have been here continuously for just over a decade. I average about a post per day (which makes this my daily post for today ;)).

However, I first read the original Straight Dope book back when it was released in paperback in 1986 or so, and I had an AOL membership in 1994, so I don’t know why it took me so long to find the SDMB online.

Apparently, we joined right at the same time, Quasimodem, separated by just one day and 13 member numbers.

Well, excluding folks who posted once in, say, 1999 and never returned, I’d say SBCheeks may be the winner. He joined in June 2001 and just made his fifth post today.

Wow, he went a little crazy June 25, 2001 and posted four times.

I’m 93181!

I assume this was my number when I was erictelevision.

what’s my number?

ETA: 55684. And now we know.

And knowing is half the battle!

I was under 900 back in 1999 with a different user name. I think I may take advantage of the offer. What’s the deal with subscriptions nowadays? I drifted away from posting when they started charging; I let it lapse and basically just lurk (until) now.

  1. Not bad. I remember the AOL version.
